Town Structures vs. World Map Structures
In standard HOMM3 games (I can't speak to WOG/mods), certain town structures can also be found on the world maps (creature dwellings, artifact merchants, etc.) whereas others can't be found on the map at all (IIRC necromancy amplifiers, treasuries, etc.)
Any town structures you'd like to see on world map -- or vice versa? Also, for the fun of it, are there any town/map structure switcheroos that you think would be a very, VERY bad idea?

I wouldn't be against mage guilds, sort of multiple shrines in one.

Upgraded creature dwellings would be nice for premade maps. Might be a bad thing if they appeared on random maps, though.

What would probably be a better idea is to allow players to upgrade an external dwelling, in the same fashion they can upgrade buildings inside a Town. It carries a reward in the sense that you can then recruit upgraded units as well as upgrade your base units there if they can be recruited from it, but also a risk in that the enemy can make use of it.
In fact, I could see a map idea where Towns cannot upgrade their dwellings, but upgraded dwellings exist on the world map - making them precious locations to acquire.

good idea. It would make the gameplay so active for all parts involved, especially if everyone had the same faction and there was only one dwelling for each tier of creatures available on the entire map. Imagine the continuous flow of traffic between all those dwellings. Battles are inevitable in this scenario xD

That would unbalance the game up to a lethal point, imo. Some top level monsters don't worth much without their upgrade, and if you don't have access to it because generator placed it on the other side of the map, can be be very frustrating.
For a custom map and driven quests it would be okay, for a change.

Or perhaps instead of having the upgraded dwellings on the map, only have a Hill Fort.
I imagine it like a king of the hill kind of scenario. Perhaps a small or medium map, in the center there is a Hill Fort, which is surrounded by mountains and has passages between the mountains at cardinal directions. North, South, East, West. As well as two one way teleporters on opposite sides of the map that lead to the fort. This way you are constantly fighting over the availability of the Hill Fort as well as trying to destroy your opponent. Water/Underground completely optional.

Avoiding the Hill Fort was the reason why I suggested upgraded dwellings. For a faction like tower that has a cheap lvl 7 dwelling and an extremely expensive and overpowered upgrade the Hill Fort is just too much of an advantage.
