Are we still talking about hota, or regular game? cause hota banned Mullich. And Adela's special is great, but Cleric class is awful, expect to see a lot of worthless secondary skills being offered, especially First Aid.

I think we were talking about SoD the whole time, but then Zenofex mentioned SoD Conflux and Necropolis. In HotA these towns were severely toned down, so not sure if they can keep up with Castle in HotA...

Castle is also nerfed, at least indirectly, on random maps in HotA. The valuable resources are scarcer and the neutrals are stronger, including the mine guards. With no native access to Gems, the Archangels could be very tough to recruit in good numbers and Angels alone won't cut it for very long.

In hotA I don't think Necropolis is any better than Castle with Necromancy nerf. Also don't think Leadership is bad skill. It prevents having bad morale when siezing such a mixed army.
Without a doubt A weekly castle army beats any weekly army of any town.

Leadership affects morale. Not luck.

Well, you cant pick Mullich as staring hero, and diplomacy is banned in all multi games, so Adela is out of the question too. And starting with Caitlin when you opponent is choosing hack, tazar, gunnar, kurre, mephala, shakti, neela, monere is very very brave

@ monere: if you're talking strictly stats, Count's right. I once compiled all the creatures with the highest stats in 2 "townscreen creature set" images(both unupgraded and upgraded), in order to create the stats for my Forge project creatures. The creatures in the compilation were diversified; castle wasn't the strongest across the board. If i had my computer at hand, i could prove it by posting the images i made.

Castle provides highest Damage per week when all of the population is recruited while maintaining an above average effective HP. In raw damage it's a beast. However, if you factor in things like Necromancy in SoD, Phoenixes in SoD, or Cove's specials in HotA, it no longer seems that great. It's expensive, so Fortress and Stronghold can produce more consistent results on many maps (especially in HOTA) and they also happen to have best heroes in the game (Crag Hack, Tazar in particular - but Barbarian/Beastmaster is the best class by itself) while Castle is on the poorer side when it comes to heroes. Hota also introduced creature banks that aren't favoring Castle that much anymore.
Castle is still strong, but I feel more comfortable with Fortress, and a Cove can go wild if left unchecked.

All towns can go wild if left unchecked and the map provides. The last time I played on a big map, I had something like 500+ Horned Demons by the beginning of month 4 with a fairly lazy farming, that's quite a force to deal with if you're on the opposite side of the battlefield. Crag Hack becomes a beast after 20 levels or so, his Ancients can take all level 7s in 2 hits (sometimes even 1). Throng of Wyverns with Tazar are a b*tch to kill (though I prefer Alkin). Tower can get lots of Giants/Titans, Dungeon - dragons. Cove's creatures have excellent specials and synergy, the more they become, the harder they are to deal with. Conflux, despite the nerfs, still has 3 units immune to fire and 1 half-immune for Armageddon bombardment and always-acts-first because of the Phoenixes. Necropolis still can amass a large number of Skeletons for free and can assemble the CotUK. Rampart... I don't play with.

I'm fairly sure Conflux became overnerfed in HotA. They literally took all that made the town powerful but gave nothing in return.

Totally agree, the weakest town in HotA right now. Also I think Tower overbuffed.

I never really noticed the Conflux nerf, or rather I didn't even know it had been nerfed. Could someone tell what was nerfed in Conflux?

Sprite upgrade requires mage guild :/
Firebird growth 1 from 2
Firebird dwelling 20 mercury, 15k from 10 mercury, 10k :/
Firebird growth booster +1 costs 5k, 5 mercury :/
Firebird immunity replaced with 50% Fire Resist
Firebird 2000 from 1200, phoenix 3000 from 2000 :/
Phychic/magic elementals cost about 50% more :/
Such Godawful nerfing that I would never touch that town again. Absolutely terrible.

HotA increased cost of their 6.th and 7.th tier units. Phoenix growth decreased to 3. Sprite upgrade requires Magic university. Increased cost of 7.th leve dwelling. Phoenix have only %50 immunity to fire magic etc...

Apart from changes to the Firebird/Phoenix - reduced population by 1 (without that new horde building), increased cost and changing their fire immunity to 50% fire resistance... not sure what else has been nerfed that much. Some other costs perhaps but the town was just moronically cheap in SoD in comparison with its creature's performance so it's only fair.
