One more time...
Diablo is action game with some roleplaying elements...
I would never call it as real RPG or we could call HoMM RPG aswell...
I have never found Diablo being interesting game.
It just hack'n'slash game with some flashy graphics.
HoMM is something else...

Yep, you can play DungeonSiege online either thru zone, tcp/ip or lan. The game has 2 seperate worlds, one designed for Single player, and another larger world set up for Multiplayer - but both of the worlds can be played multiplayer. You can play it co-operatively with someone, or play it competeitively against them, i believe the max players in one game is 8.
The character you start with is fun, as you can customize his/her appearance (much like the sims, choosing hairstyle/color, clothing, skin tone etc.) And from there the development of the character depends on how you choose to fight. There are 4 skills to develop, Melee, Ranged, Nature Magic and Combat Magic, and they will improve faster with use, so if u want a tuff might guy, you'll use melee which will cause your melee skill points to increase faster , as well as increase your strength faster, Ranged will increase dexterity, magics will increase intellegence. The combat is the same style as diablo.
The weapons and armor etc are as in diablo, some will have magicial properties and effects, and each has requirements as to what level you must be in strength , dexterity etc.
The game has a demo, i never actually tried this but if u go to http://www.microsoft.com/games/dungeonsiege/ you can download it there to have a look

well lets see diablo / diablo II both ack an slash nothing close to rpg ! baldurs gate / tales of the sword cost / ice wind dale / baldurs gate II / throne of bhall all rpg games butt just to mutch and it real time based ! pool of radiance II rpg game good grafik turend based game and that i like bud i havent tryet it online yet ! homm 1 and 2 dont know homm 3 and 4 stratetig fantasy games no roll playing bud great online ! well if they kombined them all making a kingdom turn based game whit some rpg possibilityes i whould be happy

Diablo is THE RPG and the BEST rpg i know there is lots of cheaters now even at close battle.net but i had great time when i played the game... now only what i want it's some news about DIABLO 3

If you are interested in my humble opinion iīm glad to submit it.
Baldurs gate are by far a greater game than diablo.
Why?
Brainless killing 24/7 is not exiting for..yeah, just that.
Allthou the history in diablo makes for exiting interludes, my main impression is that the crew at blizzard didnīt find it important enough to make the history intriguing thruout the game. there is no feeling of nearing your goals and objectives when youīve killed your 2993 creature...
By the way: Fallout2 IS the greatest game ever...

Diablo maybe a best seller but it isn't a rpg. It is a acyion game were your char gains level. A real rpg must be more then just hack and slash, back to town to seel your spoils and hack an slash again. Baldur's gate and even icewind dale is a lot better rpg.

Well that may be!
But atleast diablo stays cool even after beating the game!
Buldar's gate becomes boring after beating the game.
So diablo is WAY better
But you all suck!!!
Age of Mythology/Smash Brothers Melee and most of all Warcraft3 are the best games this world will ever know!
Every gamer that doesn't like War3 is not a real fantasy fan!
And must burn in hell!

I disagree wesley. If you start baldurs gate with a diferent class and you colect a diferent party you will have almost a new game to play (especially baldurs gate 2). In diablo you just start the same game, with the same old enemies and the sme old hack and slash.

Welllll
You have Druid/Assassin/Amazone/Necromancer/Barbarian/Sorcerer and Paladin!
They all have special Weapons and stuff and spells!
And you have 3 kind of difficult choises!
That goes all in with the Cool mulitplayer!
Buldur's gate lacks the thing of slash and dasH!
it's much to less enemies! And there are maybe 10 kinds of enemies, while diablo has far in the 50.
And there are like 100 kind of MODS for diablo
Even a Baldur's gate mod wich puts the enemies of Baldur's gate into diablo, and some kind of tasks and other things from that game!
But whatever!
When War3 comes on market I don't care for diablo and baldur's gate anymore!
War3 is Command and Conquer/baldur's gate and Diablo in one!
YOu have the ability to create all kind of maps with the playability of those 3 games bundled in one game!
if you don't believe me! Just watch for June 28

You can make KILL and LEVEL grow games like DIABLO
With Warcraft 3.

If you haven't played Dungeon Siege how do you know that Diablo is better?
I've played both and Dungeon siege is far better IMO.

The original question was why people play both Diablo and HoMM, and my answer to that question is that both games have developing hero/-es. That, I think, is the factor in those games that keeps players in their grip. Sure they are good games other than that too.

I havent played all the games ppl have listed here but most i have to say i am the ultimate Diablo Addict so i can speak from that perspective..
I would agree Diablo is not the best RPG game around or the best for strategy in general game play.
However There is no comparison to what can be done with Diablo after completing the game to others i have found apart from Realm (closed BNET) and the economy that exists there ..There is Open The Hackers Realm The amount of strategy and development put into the creation of a top hacked dueller at level 99 would astound most ppl it not merely the process of dialling in new numbers in an editor ..Many ppl spend months or years searching for that piece of binary code that will enable the creation of a new attribute or skill or level
When i first began Diablo the highest levels achievable were 300 in hacking we can now readly hex in values in the Billions so for those wishing to extend the experience into either programming or just to discover some great new stuff and go kill everyone Diablo reigns supreme..
No two setups on bnet will be the same no two duelz will ever be the same it is an ever evolving enviroment..
