Poll Question:
what magic schools do u go first with your heroes?
I prefer to get chaos with all heroes first, after I got all primary skills of course, then I usually try to obtain order and mass slow -
to beat all 4lvls available with chaos spell storm in combination with mass slow and use all that expo to get death magic finally
so:
in final battle I have with all heroes chaos order death magics
and can wretch the opponent with spell storm of chaos plus illiminate dangerous creatures' stacks with hypno+sacrifice
sometimes when there's TOO much expo from killing 4lvls I get demonology and summon devils...

My favorite is probably Chaos, but I have to say... Order is too strong of a magic school. It's just too good (mass slow, berserk, blind, mass forgetfulness, mass blur, teleport, even displacement is so useful at keeping the nasties away... and then there's pain mirror and hypnotize, too), and it's also too versatile not to get it first and fast.

I don't usually go for mage schools outside the faction I start with / build my army around.
If I play with Chaos, I get Chaos magic.
If I play with Order, I get Order magic.
If I play with Nature, I'm either drunk or trolling.
If I go for an archmage, my preferred schools:
Order > Chaos > Death > Life > Nature.
