If was possible to remove HP check for Hypnotize it could be moved to Level 5. In Heroes 5 Pupper Master was one of best spell in game.

You don't need to be a genius like MOP to edit the SPTRAITS file ^^

I would suggest you making blind depends on total HP of target units like hypnotize. A lvl 1 hero can blind 1000 archangels it makes no sense.

Basiclly any spells would be need to spell power dependant, berserk also is quite overpowered on expert.

I was reading here that it was recommended to switch to VMCI and ERA.

I think right Now they miss the most valuable features of HOta, which is HD+ and several Ui improvements in HOTA. Specially missing in VCMI.

I would love to switch to VCMI as a modding, but i have no idea how implement simultaneous turns and many of the ui improvements.

In fact I know how to script in ERM and have several scripts of my own, but a million mods for me can't compete with all the multiplayer improvements and ui improvements of HOTA.
