Wow. Probably that's why just a few Earth Elementals survived my 1000+ dmg Chain Lightning. By not getting hit, while everyone around just died.
Edit: However, to be honest, how can you really "zap" some earth creatures? But, since you want to use this immunity for the dragons, I guess it isn't such a happy thing. Maybe we can actually ask HotA to fix it, if they can.

You did'nt know they were immune to Chain Lightning?
It would be cool if HotA would do something about it, (I don't think they will) so I guess I'll just stick to my own solution.
I really hate how a lot of heroes have creatures immune to their specialty. I honestly think that is really bad design.

I know (not about the CL immunity, because I barely pay attention to Magma/Earth Elementals, since they're so crappy). As I said somewhere else, the guys were "broken" after the Forge tragedy and just didn't care that much and/or something else. A creature to be immune is ok, but not more. Just imagine if a Conflux hero was a Resurrection specialist lol.

But Rampart, Dungeon and Inferno were designed before Conflux, so that is not really an excuse.
That is also why Fire Magic feels subpar compared to the other schools, because both Conflux, Inferno, Dungeon and Rampart have creatures that are unable to benefit from Fire spells.
Maybe I should just remove Armageddon and Fire Immunity completely...

They do have excuses. The dragons and the Efreet. Dragons being immune to almost every magic is a classic, and Efreeti to be immune to fire won't just unbalance everything, since they are one out of 7 units and they're already OP. Compromises need to be made, so you can mourn your BlackCrest's death after (and during) the battle.
Conflux is something else. It's just a mess of immune creatures that cannot be resurrected, except for 1st and 7th tier.

Yeah I guess it makes sense, but it's still annoying.
Conflux is probably the worst though, almost all of their heroes are very stupidly designed.

Hello BTB
I don't know if you are familiar with HotA, but in HotA Firebirds Fire Immunity, was replaced with 50% Fire Resistance. (Which means they can also be affected by Fire spells.)
I would like to make them Fire Immune like in SoD, but in the exe it seems like nothing was changed, 40 for Fire Immunity and 08 for zero Spell Immunity, so they must have applied it some other way?
The same is true for building requirements of Tower, Inferno and Conflux and Arch Devils -2 Luck...

No clue on that one, Phoenix. If I had to guess, I'd say they rewrote fire immunity itself.

Yeah that is probably it, at least in Firebirds case. It was worth a try though.
Thank you.

I think this thread should become sticky. It contains totally vital information.

I feel agreement with you and would grab the How to edit HotA thread along with it ... but the number of stickies in this section is already huge. Adding two more would make it even longer. And all stickied threads are active, too, or are used for moderation. I don’t I cannot really unsticky any of those .

Hey, Maurice... you don't happen to still be active in digging through the .exe, do you? I've got some questions that have been piling up and I'm hitting a dead-end in finding any answers.
I also need to update the guide again and intend to do so sometime in the next week.

If permission is granted and people like the idea, I could turn this guide to HTML form and maintain it on my site for long term (merri.net - I recently upgraded the layout to mixed HoMM3 + FF9 style).

We need two threads one for asking second for answers because finding something in How to edit Hota is very hard. A lot of posts there give nothing for modding questions. But you must search all content.

I made the following post in the how to edit hota thread which was ignored. However I believe the questions and ideas I brought up pose serious fundamental problems with HotA if you want to ever have a serious ability to edit it, and need to be addressed. The guide in this thread is really good but is for all intents and purposes is exclusive to non-HotA versions of the game until someone can figure out how to reverse engineer the DRM they put in to try to prevent modding.
Winston said: 1) For making modifications without HD mod, is the only option hex editing?
2) I assume that would mean that the modification would break if you tried to use it with a different version of HotA?
3) Would the HD mod usage and plugins be able to cause modifications that would remain functional with different versions of HotA? Are there other ways of being able to avoid remaking a modification for every version of HotA besides this if so? It looks like plugins are the best method of doing this from my investigation.
4) I installed 4.208 rc4 of HD mod which still supports plugins for HotA, however it looks like HotA team has done their best to enforce DRM on it to prevent mods of HotA, because I get "Your HoMM3 HD version is obsolete and not compatible with HotA. You should update it or play HotA without HD." Essentially forcing us to install the version of HD that DOESN'T allow plugins, or we can't use the HD launcher that has plugins to run HotA. This is nothing short of malicious and trying to create a locked environment, which is hypocritical considering the original HoMM3 game was never meant to be modded so in return HotA would not exist if they respected the original developer software.
I'd like to fix HotA to restore all of the features it removed from the game like heroes, artifacts, and skills. Eventually also undo all of their multiplayer balance changes so that the only things left are purely new original content. Where would be a good place to start?
