Various gameplay questions
1) Is the AI affected by the Cover of Darkness? (both town based and adventure map based)
Is there any point visiting it?
2) When inflicted creature damage gets calculated, the damage range is applied to every single creature in the stack or everyone does the same damage?
3) About 20 years ago I was playing a ROE single player scenario, a default one. Or maybe a campaign scenario...anyway it was something official from RoE. Well, I remember seeing an enemy hero strolling around a LEGION of hydras, and there was no way it was a natural growth.
Anyone remembers an official map where this can happen or a reason why it happened?

1) To my knowledge, no.
2) I remember someone once talking that the game would count dmg per 10 creatures in order to save up time. This is nothing but a rumour thou, as I haven't tested this myself. However, it's certainly a fact that not all creatures are dealing the same damage.
3) I have no idea :/

1) I myself remember it is. After you build cover of darkness, the AI has to come back to re-discover the map. So I never build it, unless the AI is far away and the area around clear.
The game could just add up all of the creatures' damage, calculate attack - defense thing, and then randomly choose a number in the damage range (this can be done before attack - defense thing as well).
3) I don't remember, it was either a bug, or it was intended to be fought against using Exp Berserk.

Here's another:
If I refuse a good skill during campaigns, will I still have the same chance of this skill popping up again?

No, there are no additional penalties like that in any game mode. Of course, chance of rolling the same skill again later is lower.

The AI doesn’t remember what’s below the shroud, it has to explore any covered area to know what’s beneath it. Especially when the shroud covers some dead-end corner, you can potentially trap an enemy AI Hero, because he’ll try to explore it every turn, essentially locking him in that area.
Any refused skill will return at a later moment based on skill weights. Note that Wisdom and the four Elemental Magic skills follow special rules beyond the standard random selection of offered skills.

Ok, got a couple more:
1)Since the battle queue was released for HD mod, I noticed that often stacks of identical creatures under the same hero have different turns. For example, I got two Griffin stacks, the first one got to move but the second has to wait for an enemy creature to move first.
Why is this happening? Should they move one after the other?
2) I am playing the last scenario in the first Sandro campaign (the one with the op artifacts) and I just found out that in previous missions I missed a +12 attack quest hut. Now...does the "future Sandro" in the next campaigns get totally rerolled, or do I have gimped myself for future campaigns?

Hi, guys!
I have been searching for the right thread for my question and found this one as the closest one, so sorry if it is not the right place.
I have problems with "HOM 3 Complete" which I downloaded some time ago. It crashes all the time. Sometimes I can barely do 2 turns. So it is unplayable even with autosave.
Is there any way to solve it? I run it on my laptop , Windows 7, 32 bits. I tried to run it as an administrator, changing resolution etc. But no way to fix it. Maybe I need some patch?
Will apreciate your advices.
Thank you in advance.

I know it works like this: up to a certain number (10 or 50) the damage is calculated individually for each creature and the numbers are just added. For larger numbers a damage is randomly attributed to one for each ten creatures and then multiplied by ten, I'm not sure how this plays for much larger numbers like legions but I believe the only multiplier is 10.

If the enemy has stacks of the same speed as you the turn order is in a zig-zag fashion.
Consider the following scenario -> You attack an enemy hero with your hero, both you and the enemy have 7 stacks of same speed creatures. Then the turn order will be -> Your first stack, enemy's first stack, your second stack, enemy's second stack and so on (first meaning the right/left stack that's on top, second meaning the right/left stack second to top and so on).
Hope this helps you understand the turn order better!

I haven't played that campaign in a while, but I'm pretty confident that, as with Gem, Gelu, Crag Hack and Yog, Sandro gets all his stacks completely rerolled, so whatever skills or stats you've chosen for him get ignored. Heroes 3 doesn't have any way of tracking this stuff from one campaign to another.

Another question:
Is there any kind of penalty if I let my troops be led by a different faction hero?
For example, if I find Tazar in the tavern and hire him to lead my castle troops, will I incur in some penalty of lose some bonus?
