spell research

I want to share my spell research mod for WOG,

You can change all the spell by right-clicking magic guild and paying some resources.

You can research the magic once per a day.

The spell that once appeared will not appear again.

The probability of appearing and level of spell are fetched from the sptraits, so you don't have to worry about adapting various version of mod.


as written in the previous post, most of the code was referenced in RerryR.

Castle : 5000 gold/ 10 mercury/ 10 surfur/ 10 crystals/ 10 gems

Rampart : 5000 gold/ 15 mercury/ 15 surfur/ 15 crystals/ 15 gems

Tower : 5000 gold/ 20 mercury/ 20 surfur/ 20 crystals/ 20 gems

Inferno : 5000 gold/ 15 mercury/ 15 surfur/ 15 crystals/ 15 gems

Necro : 5000 gold/ 15 mercury/ 15 surfur/ 15 crystals/ 15 gems

Dungeon : 5000 gold/ 15 mercury/ 15 surfur/ 15 crystals/ 15 gems

Stronghold : 5000 gold/ 5 mercury/ 5 surfur/ 5 crystals/ 5 gems

When I play the random maps on WoG, clear time is too much different depending on the town portal and dimension door spells.

HotA has spell research system, but WoG doesn't.

I suggest a simple method,


when you right-click on magic guild level 5, you can build a certain building which add dimension door and town portal on your magic guild. (replace original spells)

The code is almost same with third upgrade which was written by RerryR and Berseker. I refer to most of them there. Thank you.

It may be applied as a magic research function with further progress. Randomize all spells when I build this building, allowing it to be built repeatedly.

I've always thought that the HOTA magic research feature was a great idea, and your WOG implementation sounds promising.

As a frequent player of XXL random maps, I can say that both DD and TP are crucial to success. Depending on random chance to get them can be a recipe for defeat.

I think your building should add spells - not replace.
It is possible but with more scripting. (would work fine if all added spells are non-random)

I noticed you split the spells off into a separate mod. That's a good idea. The spells part may conflict with another mod that also makes changes to the spell system. I could be wrong, not being a programmer, but I think the spell research change by itself is less likely to generate issues.
