Dear fheroes2 project supporters and Heroes of Might and Magic II fans!

The team is pleased to present the new version of the fheroes2 engine - 1.0.11 after a month of hard work. As in any other release, we made many changes and are happy to share the news with you.

The "Battle Only" mode has undergone a substantial revamp, boasting an improved user interface and a newfound capability to save the state of selections within the dialog. These enhancements promise a more immersive and user-friendly experience for players engaging in battle-centric gameplay.


Continuing our commitment to refining the gaming experience, the AI has received a notable upgrade. The AI makes better decisions during battles while defending its troops.

The work on the Editor continues. The team added a base file format for future maps, which will incorporate a greater number of features compared to the original map format.

Additionally, the Editor has been expanded with Castle and Town placement logic, along with the inclusion of Ocean objects.


The majority of the work focused on modifying the code for the Editor and preparing the game to support the upcoming map format.


In this release, the team also polished multiple places in the UI, such as difficulty selection in campaigns, Tree of Knowledge quick info dialog, making AI heroes' animations depend on their speed, and many more.


Overall, more than 30 issues have been fixed in this release, and many translations have been updated.

Wonderfull. Maybe some modding options? Units building stats city income skills stats building order etc. All stats! Its rathdr Simple. I dont mean new units cities or skills...

Hi! This could be done by modifying the code itself. There were already a few people who forked the project and made their custom balance modifications.
Speaking about the more friendly modding approach - currently out team is more desired and focused on fixing AI issues and working on the editor. Modding options are fun, but this game aspect is interesting only for a few people. We're planning to add them, but it's not a priority for now.

@mods @galaad Could this receive a sticky? Quickly becoming a definitive version of HOMM2 with all of the QoL and accessibility updates through the engine.

Have a few questions or suggestions for the team

- Are there plans for an updated official logo?
- Adding sequenced or more photos on the Google Play Store (Ex - Adventure map > Castle screen > Castle options > Hero screen > Battlefield > Siege)
- Do you plan to continue the same development patterns of monthly for the expansion release?
- Will the expansion focus on certain areas to start? Scenery, map objects, etc to support the map editor?
- Are there plans for multiple fractions?
- Is there a design team that development is working with?

Thanks for the effort the team is putting into this

I've asked for this long time ago, but there seem to be no moderators for this thread.
I've created a new thread for fheroes2 project here to have an updated name. Project has passed 1.0 version long time ago.

Currently the teams lacks professional artists, so updating logo is not the priority for now. I agree that project needs a better and newer one.

Thanks for the suggestion, we try to add more screenshots up to the next release.

Not sure, that monthly updates suit expansion development, but we are not planning to keep silence up to the release of the expansion and are going to introduce several updates before containing some new content.

Since we're lacking professional artists, we're going to focus mostly on storytelling in the new campaign, however, each campaign mission would have new content. We're planning to add new structures, objects, spells, skills and several new creatures.

Adding new factions is too heavy task for us yet, but we're not saying no to the possibility of adding one. Open engine allows easy adding of any new content. Depends on artists that could join our project.

No, currently we are not working with any other team. Fheroes2 project is fully enthusiastic and everyone willing can join us. We appreciate any help, however he have high quality standards and do not accept any contribution that do not correspond overall project quality and original game design.

Here’s an issue I found. Not a real big deal though unless you wanna play Archibald’s campaign.

I’d post a picture but I’m not seeing a way to do that here.

When you go start the campaign mode, an error message inside the game window frame pops up saying “ Warning... Required video files for campaign selection window are missing. Please make sure that all necessary files are present in the system”, then it goes right to the start of Roland’s campaign.
