20 creatures! What a blast. Collect heroes ... please, let them not to find moderators. Almost all heroes are humans, no matter their faction, apparently.
I didn't think I could be more dismayed by this franchise, but UBI is trying very hard to.
P.S.: not to mention that "Dinasty" name resurfacing. Feels like a bad omen. Next release: Might & Magic: Gimme Mony.
P.S.2: and did you notice all women look as if they have never seen battle? Overload of cuteness. Next thing will be having some sort of fashion show as alternative costumes. For large sums of money, of course, and unbalanced bonuses. Because why not?

You guys need to reevaluate your understanding of the franchise and the times we live in. I'm also disappointed by how the flagship was handled, but I'm not going dwell on that and sink any M&M boat before it even gets a chance to sail. Mainly because I want to have an improved and more accurate opinion than some knee-jerk reaction to whatever Ubisoft does.
And in the off-chance that the game is actually good, what then? Still gonna hold a grudge and be bitter because Ubisoft and muh Herouz? Instead of just playing a good game? What's the priority here?

Well, it's not as if they didn't got us used to that.
Judging from what they've been doing, such criticism is more than warranted...

You mean Ubi.

That would be fantastic, but hardly believable.

For those who ... want to ... reevaluate, etc., etc., etc., there's a gameplay video. Looks and feels better than H7, to be fair, but not an accomplishment either. So, no.

True.
Also, someone might be able to port those H6 animated unit models and use them (remember we couldn't read H6 animations?).

I don't remember H6 much, nor plans of modding it later. When I saw that convertion system coupled with town portal and area of control system, it was too much for me to handle.

From the same link.
Quote: A couple of years back, Ubisoft announced it has signed a contract with China developer Longtu Games for a mobile game based on Heroes of Might and Magic. A classic game beloved worldwide, and even in China, a name was settled on for the game titled Heroes of Might and Magic: Dynasty. It launched in China yesterday, and it was nothing close to what we expected. With a VIP system and tons of pay walls, the game resembles more closely to mobile “city-building” titles such as the cash-grab Red Alert Mobile. A steaming pile of ****.
I could hardly stand what I saw and stopped playing earlier than usual, though the battlefield felt really nostalgic. Heroes of Might and Magic: Dynasty will most likely not hit overseas, which is certainly a godsend. Trust me, the game is not performing well at all in China, having no hype or gamers discussing at all. It seems like the previous beta tests scared all of them away. Look, China gamers might spend millions, but they are not stupid as well to plonk cash into a sub-par title such as Heroes of Might and Magic: Dynasty.

Cheerful. Around expectations.
Battles look like bait, alright. Apparently there are uncontrollable siege battles, resource stuff is located in-castle with multiple levels, things take actual time to happen. Wondering how turns come in to play on that sort of mixed setting. Everything is screaming: boost me! Everywhere. "Collect Heroes" ...

I guess I'll be the one to say it - it's a mobile game. With the PC flop, the franchise ported to the mobile market. That's what I meant by reevaluating before getting that turned around in an attempt to scoff. You guys are not even their target audience, I hope you do realize that too. Put things into context and you'll understand why they launch these "cash-grabs" for new audiences: because it sells. It's literally the lifeline that keeps M&M afloat, for better or for worse.
Also, that "review" is a joke. It fails a minimum of objectivity and also shows a lack of understanding of the industry. The only reason they're westernizing the game is because it already succeeded in China. It would not make any sense to fail there and then bring it to an even more critical audience in the west. Ubisoft's in it for the profit and are very analytical, they're only about safe investments. They have their "creative leaps" once in a while, but this is definitely not one of them. In principle, the mobile market has been a safe flow of revenue in like forever. It's like their 4th or 5th M&M mobile title for a reason.
I saw the video, but only briefly for lack of time. Can't say it's good enough to keep me interested from what I've seen. I generally detest mobile games for the environment and feeling they create. Would have to get a more hands-on experience to formulate an opinion though (if I'll ever get there).

I would not describe Ubisoft as "very analytical" considering their abysmal handling of HoMM7. If they were "very analytical" they wouldn't have had that snowty blog where they did nothing but spit in our faces and tell us we're idiots who don't know what we want in a game.

Ye, calling the game MM is also a problem in itself. People might come to think that MM/HoMM is just a bunch of mobile crap games published by Ubisoft.

14 years to analyze something is quite a time, and failing for all these 14 years is quite a feat. If not for the modding community, the franchise would be already forgotten (shelved).

Up until Heroes 7 they had favorable data to work with. Heroes 5 and 6 were both financial successes and had fairly good reviews. Same with the other entries in the IP, like Dark Messiah and MMX Legacy, possibly more on the online side. MMDOC was great, but they feared Hearthstone and ended development, the browser thing was okay-ish as far as I remember. So on paper, a Heroes 7 game had all the reason to be greenlit and lead the next step in the IP development.
It was a grandiose failure and that's just history at this point. Many reasons for that and just singling out one of them wouldn't paint an accurate picture. But as far as the blog is concerned, that was nothing short of an experiment which did more harm than good in my opinion. I do believe that the community at large has no idea what it wants. This was War-Overlord's opinion back in the day which I initially dismissed. I now uphold myself. Erwan le Breton was wrong to entertain the idea, and that's his failure as a director... Lots to say here, but I'll pass. I think he had an interview as well with bullet points for all that went wrong, so no reason to go through that stuff again if it's already covered.

They didn't wait for H7's failure to attack the mobile market. The fandom is not the target audience? That's interesting. When you release a new IP, getting an audience is the hardest part, they inherited an audience from the original work, all they had to do was taking interest in what the IP was about. Heroes 5 was a financial success way above Ubi's expectations, even though they lost a non negligible chunk of fans because of the visual Warcraft/Warhammer route, meaning it could have been an even greater success. People wanted the successor of H3 and were in majority disappointed with H4. H5 was the new chance, so that is why it sold. The only reason H6 sold well was because H5 was good, so the fandom was confident. I remember part of the advertising of H6 was also that "developers were fans of H3". H5 was good because its gameplay was built on H3. H7 flopped because a majority hated H6, which had nothing to do with any predecessor, and it was very transparent how much of H6 was put into H7. They did even worse that time, butchering the original features on top of their "vision".
I agree with Baronus, and basically everyone else who posted in the thread insofar.
