Modern King's Bounty has some animals as well.

White tiger is also mythological.

Animals are ok, extincts too (they have an exotic aura about them). I'm using some for my proposals. As well as some plants.

Harpy Eagle, Wolves, Bears, Sharks, Foxes, komodo-dragons, mongoose, crocodiles, snakes, serpents, viboras, moray eel, electric eel, poison dart frogs, wasps, jelly fishes, jaguars, panthers, buffalos, bisons, mooses, wolverines, owls, lynxes, gazelles, chameleons, fangfishes, squids, octopuses, swordfishes, narwhals, seahorses, lionfish, rays, bettas, birds-of-paradise, mayura/peacocks, crowned cranes, cassowari, shoebills, salamanders, warthog/boar, gorillas, flying foxes, pangolins, rinoceros, dracos, tardigrades, baboons, mandrakes, agaves, ivys, stephania erectas, rafflesia, corpse plant, passion flower, victorias, black bat flower, dendallions, naked man flowers, venus flytraps, red durantas, brambles, garlands, etc.

These are some I like as alternatives, and there are a lot that can be used as mounts. And you have freedom to add this and that perk on them, if you will. hohohohohoho ^_^

White tigers are real tho... or are they one of those mythical-but-also-real animals like dire wolves?

Yep, Chinese mythology, called Byakko in Japan.

Of course, having a 'swamp' faction sorta assumes that 'swamp' is going to be an actual terrain. Personally I'd actually be against it, instead having a jungle terrain, with the 'swamp' being a sort of overlay on 'Jungle' (a terrain I think has more potential).

Yo, thanks for that dude. Iana is an impressive artist, I know of her work. I dig that badass Dragon and the Manticore. My project was started in 2014 (subsequently lost in the sands of time) and tried to mimic the official art style of Heroes 6. Recently I decided to finish it and there it is...

Will-o-wisp/Ignis Fatuus

The marshes are home to innumerable amount corpses, still decaying under its motionless waters. Sometimes the emanating eldritch energy concentrates and manifests itself as floating lights. It is unknown if they act on will or pure instinct but what is known is they are drawn to the living and once in their presence the wisps will do all they can to lure their victims deeper into the marshes depriving them of their vital force. Those who try to fight them will find it quite difficult as striking them feels like hitting air and death magic seems to have no effect either. Light magic might prove useful if one is fast enough to cast it. Somehow the Swamp Witches managed summon and subdues these elusive creatures to their will.
(Incorporeal, Immaterial, Immune to death spells, Photophobia)

Nice! A question: which is the difference between Incorporeal and Immaterial in your proposition?

All good here also, thanks. Glad you like them. So the idea was based on H6 Ghosts/Specters
Incorporeal: unit can move through obstacles and units. Physical damages are reduced by 35%. and Immaterial: at the beginning of the battle unit receives only 50% damages. It lasts until unit does any action.

Hm, in my opinion, they both feel a bit redundant. Why don't you use that ability for a stealthy unit, or something? Or it could be adapted to when this unit is not engaged in melee combat with any other (then you add this to a single ability, when not engaged, 40-50% defense against physical and when engaged, 25-30%), or when prompting the Defend action? Just suggestion.

In my perception, abilities should be considered in the long term, when battles drag on. I think in H4 or so, the bandits started the game stealthy, or H5, I cannot recall. Then they would become fully visible after first attack. Now I also don't remember if, upon revealing thmselves, they would apply bonus damage. Immaterial reminds me a lot of that. But both works only once at first engagement. Later on, they get irrelevant, you see.

Fair point, I'm only hinting at ideas for it. It's not set in stone by any means, I believe it will have to be balanced with the mechanics of the game in general. Maybe the Immaterial will last until it's first attack making it useful to get behind enemy lines, don't know. I'm more interested in the concept art aspect of it honestly but any suggestion is welcomed and yours make perfect sense to me.
