Not really. I and dozens of people I know used torrents for a decade, not once anybody got a virus. If a torrent has enough seeders, it’s safe. It’s tested. It’s much more probable to get attacked through mail. Dont you use mail?
Besides, I use a Mac anyway, viruses arent a matter.

That aside, a good tip, aside from sailing the internet seas with the black flag, is to own physical copies. Netflix and other garbage is a fickle thing, and stuff can be removed on a whim, esspecially in this day and age of weak people.

Original Netflix offered illegal movies, but USA granted Netflix, and it started spread around the world. Netflix changed legal company. Luck Netflix.
Torrent is legal and illegal. Legal? Studient materials. Problem!

The main reason I got Kaspersky is the tons of damage I got from torrents, fred is right. Sure, if a torrent has thousands of seeders it may be safe, but what if what you want is quite rare, as graphic tools.
Torrents literally killed one of my hdd back in time. Now I got windows 10 then I searched for a torrent version of Photoshop which I had before. Kaspersky quickly deleted the 10 or so versions I could find, full of trojans.

Well, if you download cracked stuff or rather apps with their own crackers, the cracker app.can do stuff. That’s not from downloading the torrent file itself though. Crackers execute orders to decieve your computer. Same thing stands true if you download a cracker directly from a browser. Movies, music, other media data, books, pictures are safe though.

Besides, let’s say there is an extremely small chance of getting a virus. You should already be keeping your important files and data on an external drive anyway, in case the operating system crashes, the computer dies etc. So, all you’ll have to do is reload the system and reboot, like what, in every 5 years? That’s a really small price to pay for being able to find almost any movie on the internet, including obsecure classics, world cinema, flac versions of rare albums and lots of other stuff.
In short, if you’re downloading illegal copies, torrents are the least risky way because you see other seeders and peers who are already checking the file out. The torrent community itself is an alert sytem.

No, the main difference is the nature of the download. Music and movies are basically seeded as per se, without any need of compressing, cracking or debugging. If you see a movie shared as Spiderman.exe, you look elsewhere, right?
While stuff like software is always containing the main cracker "additions". Risky.

i've only run into a handful of movies i haven't been able to download, that i actually want; and you don't even NEED torrents for that. all i have to do is give it time; they'll all eventually be uploaded for my enjoyment, regardless.

Potato potahto. The crack.exe is risky, not the torrent platform. I wouldnt download (or click) Spiderman.exe from a regular site either.
Not to mention you always have the option to manually scan for viruses before opening any file you download, torrent or not torrent.
