Do you like this form of answer?
Man, Democracy and Monarchy are not mutually exclusive. If you had read the text I provided, that would have become very clear to you.

The article is naive, to put it politely.
Whether a country is a republic or a monarchy or a federation doesnt determine how democratic it is, Iran is a republic, UK is a monarchy.
That is of course, when you talk about a constitutional monarchy, which simply means the entity and power of the monarch is symbolical, not executive. He/she is not much different than a mascot for a football team. The monarch personifies the state, makes it more relatable to the people, gives them something to cheer for.
If you give more power to the monarch or “the benevolent dictator” as the clueless libertarian suggests (they usually are) and switch to an actual one-man regime or something closer to it, things will change. There is no such thing as a benevolent dictator or monarch, even if they start out as one, power corrupts. That is rule number one in politics: power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. There’s no need to think hypothetically, the world is not short of one-man regimes or actual monarchies, they are not better. The same Churchill quoted in the article, also said that “democracy is the second best way to govern and the first way is yet unknown to men” which is an elegant way of saying it is the most functional one among the feasable alternatives. Not because the average voter is a genius, because they are an insurance against corruption of power, among with seperation of powers.
In practice, monarchs (actual ones, not symbolic) get replaced too, if they screw up, they are usually assassinated, poisoned etc and replaced with some other royal line. That was the insurance in real, historical monarchies. Which of course, means that politics become a matter of life and death, literally. So they also turn vicious and paranoid overtime, (another reason power corrupts) and they become more authoritarian the more they fail.

In the future, please dont just link spam in the OSM. If you have something to say about a topic, say it. We've been over this before, Gandalf.

Yeah that's not great either. However:
1. The thread had developed before I had a chance to view it.
2. It's at least evident from the link title what the topic is about.
3. Artu doesn't have a habit of spamming every forum with random links with no context. You do. And I've asked you nicely to put more thought into topics that you start.
Why is this important? Because threads stick around the OSM theoretically forever. Threads that start with just a link with very little context become completely meaningless in the future if the source material is deleted externally, or the link changes. Also threads that start off with no obvious purpose devolve into spam-talk rather quickly.
So, again: don't just link-spam, particularly in the more permanent forums. And also please don't change my handle in an insulting way. Thread closed.
