Ideas needed, Homm 4 Shadows in the Forest
HI, I probably haven't posted here for at least 5 years. I've played all the Heroes 4 campaigns 3 or 4 times. When I finished this time I decided to try some scenarios in the contest maps folder (Winds of War). This one has me stumped.
Shadows in the Forest (not Shadows of the Forest). Unique!!! You start with a Level 1 hero with 31 skills. There is no possibility of advancing your Level one Hero except for the 15 Trees of Knowledge (you have enough income to use them). There are no towns and some powerful opponents and neutral stacks that are impossible in the beginning. After giving up on a conventual approach I started over with the following plan.
Use the trees to build my Stealth up to Grandmaster.
Use Stealth to gain levels, steal artifacts, build Expert Nature Magic.
Slip in and learn all the L3 Nature spells and steal the Scarab of Summoning.
Now I can beat most of the neutral stacks and some of the heroes.
There is a "safe" compound in the SE where my objective is but he's blocked in.
There's a Quest in the NE "bring Daddy, he's in the SW"
I recovered a dead prophet but there's nowhere to resurrect him and he didn't solve the quest.
There is a large compound in the SW but a closed gate bars entry.
There was an early suggestion to talk to the bandits barring entry to the safe area to see if they would help. They just killed me and later after building my summoning superpowers I killed them.
There's an idea, acquire diplomacy before going back to the bandits? (well that didn't work).
If a clever person who knows how the Map Editor works could take a look and give me a hint I would be most grateful.

Attacking the Bandits activates your other hero.
If you win the fight, nothing else happens, but you keep your first hero alive. If you lose the fight, you also unlock a convenient Green Teleport near your starting location.
Your choice weather to win or lose the fight. The creator's intention was that you should lose the fight, but there's no problem if you win. Right after the Bandits there's a one-time event that gives the first hero in the passing army some xp.
Visiting the 'daddy' quest unlocks the way to a Mage (or few Magi). If you attack this Mage(s), one Mage will join you. I'll let you figure out the rest. The reward is some Scouting.
I assume the dead Prophet is a hero you took from a Mine. The mapmaker apparently just forgot to block some of the tiles around some of the mines.
The Quest Hut in the SW corner, just outside the closed compound, asks for your 2nd hero.

Thanks Maciek, I solved it by losing to the bandits and freeing Jaagup who eventually beat a Neutral hero carrying an Ankh of Life so he could reach the Sanctuary to resurrect Inga. My problem was that once I saw I was going to lose my only hero I was reloading without finishing the battle. Not sure how I would ever free the second hero without losing the first. I worked that for a long time before asking for help.
More a puzzle than most maps! It was fun.

I actually looked for a Homm 4 forum but somehow missed it. Now I see, I Assumed Lands of Axeoth was a Modification and never looked further. Thanks.
I got the same tip that Macick gave me from a Homm 4 specific Group on Facebook. Looks like there are about 15 players playing multiplayer in a league/tournament structure.
