Help changing spell mastery level?
Hi! I’m looking at the combat_spells folder in the games mechanic folder of the data.pak and one thing I want to do is change the requirement for getting spells, ie: Haste require Basic Light Mastery to be learned. I don’t see the codes for this requirement in these xdbs… anyone can help?
I did try to change the level of Haste and Divine Strength to 3 in hope that would only change the requirement to learn these spells but they are still offered in the mage guild level 1, however that doesn't work out because during a test run the Haven mage guild now offer a spell from the another school instead of Haste or Divine Strength...

Interesting, then the game wants to prevent the first couple of tiers from not having a blank slot? But even if that idea worked, you'd overcrowd tier 3 in the guild.
If you really don't want those spells to be used without basic light, why not make the spells useless on untrained mastery? Like 0 bonus or 0 duration. I don't see how that would be good for the game though.

The idea here is that I think it’s annoying that all heroes can cast Eldritch Arrows/Haste .etc. (level 1 spell) even if they don’t have any Magic Skills…. Hope someone can help lol. If I make the changes I did for all the spells then there would be no spell in mage guilds 1 and 2 which also look bad
Would Changing the effects to 0 for no Spell Mastery work with Combat AI?? Because it’s also dumb if they cast Mass Haste or something that does nothing

It's annoying? You have never played homm before? xD H2 has no magic skills, does casting annoy you there too?
You pay for the mage guild, it's not like it comes for free. Also level ups give you magic stats, that would make them 100% useless until you invest in a magic skill. Magic artifacts too. That's bad on many levels.

They are L1 skills! I believe anyone can learn L1 and 2 without any school or mastery! That's the way it should be? What happens if you get M.Insight from Sorcery, I think? Than you can learn third circle spells from any school without the knowledge of school!?
Oh, lets not forget their an artifact (forget what it's called), that allows hero to learn 4th circle Spells without ANY knowledge of the school needed!?
Not judging, honestly! I just think it's a far fetch to require heroes to need Any school for any level 1 spell!
