Fanstratics: The gameplay and story
You start your quest in an insertion capsule on a far away alien planet. The Earth council has sent you to be the savior of the world or presumably die trying, expecting of course you will die because they hate your guts. But destiny has other plans...
Upon disembarking you can see the alien dinosaur demons you need to exterminate.
You pack in your trusty machete, gravity gun and crowbar and set out to destroy the corrupted mainframe (that cloned the alien dinosaurs in the first place)
You amass an army of alien elves, alien lizardmen, and alien faeries in order to beat the strongest boss of all: The devil alien dragon. None of it works because it is immune to all damage and magic and so you retreat and leave your army to die (you didn't have the 23040 gold asked to surrender)
Fortunately you go to the Wario quest hut and after doing 29 journal entries in the quest, you find the legendary Wooden Bow
Don't let the name fool you though, this is a legendary artifact from before the Big Shhh... it looks like a normal wooden bow that shoots normal wooden arrows but is technically actually 200 million years old, made by ancient sleeping dead gods and their robot-angels with the tears of reality itself.
Shooting your bow not only kills the alien dragon but also sends their whole world to an alternate dimension that rips it apart. Upon returning home you marry the elf-faerie princess and are crowned King of Earthathia because only a trueblood Kingsborne would be able to use the bow.
But deep beneath the slumbering cyber caverns, alien zombie necrophage remains plot a coup with the help of your diseased deceased zombie lich technomancer hacker father, who has been monitoring you from the Ancient Tech 200 million year old satellites. And also, your father's shadowy figure is actually a known undead lord, who will pronounce: "In order to beat this game you will have to defeat me, Greg Fulton!" Dun dun dunnn (dramatic notes). The setup for a sequel: "Fanstratics 2 - Undead boogaloo"

Well of course. As any game/campaign writer knows, you need a good plot twist to mantain tension and a sense of the unexpected. Or five.
