Dungeon in Heroes IV?
I think the Asylum is pretty similar.
How to play Inferno?
When I play Inferno, (which isn't often) I tend to build towards Efreet/Efreet Sultans immediately. They are a great level 6 creature.
Fortress isn't that bad. Their two flyers are pretty useful, Mighty Gorgons are great for killing L7 creatures, and Lizard Warriors are pretty durable shooters. The high defense, good chance for Armorer, and Healing tents makes their creatues survive for quite a while. Just get Expert Earth and Slow for your main hero, and you can clean up.
My favorite town is Stronghold, but I also like Dungeon quite a bit. Necropolis is my least favorite town, even though they can be *very* powerful if played correctly. They're just not my style.

Stronghold is my favorite castle in all heroes games!Sometimes during some h3 games i choosed dungeon and tower!

I like Rampart best. It may be a few years since i played HoMM3, but i (nearly) always played Rampart, and a few times Castle (I used to think Adelaide ruled)

now im going to say something that makes me go into the history of HC by being the one whose favourite is...
FORTRESS!
in the original h3, they were a catastrophe. but with the exps they went quite nice. and with WOG they can be rebalanced even more.
Why i like it:
Dragon Flies - what i believe to be the best lvl 3 units, but a lot might disagree.
Basilisks - if you have expert haste(likely on maps with many universities), they are maybe the best lvl 4.
MGorgons - the best upg lvl 5. without a doubt.
Wyverns - you must be thinking im mad or just plain dumb to nominate the weakest lvl 6. but i would say they rebalance the weak low-levels. in the start of the game, you just have to rely on your lvl6 instead of lvl1 and 2(gnolls never manage anything significant although they have nice stats and a horde building, i dont know why). wyvern is useless later on, but in the beginning it is cheap and doesnt have much prequisites. Clearing early neutrals with them gives you a nice boost. and with an early boost you might capture a town, which, hopefully, can have lvl 4 mage guild, that may mean... TELEPORT! the one spell that makes hydra useful too.

Usually Rampart and Rynald as starting hero if I want to play my best. It's because of Rynald's diplomacy skill and the overall good choice of town. When I am bored I use something weak such as stronghold or fortress.

Using diplomacy is so lame. I wander how a man can use diplomacy and call himself a heroes player. Why dont you insted use some cheets to get 100 archangels week 1 and trash the map... Its just make no sense, there is no playing if you use diplomacy.

I have to admit, diplomacy makes fun if both players start with a diplo hero on a really tough map with hugh amount of monsters. Try "Extreme2" template with Adela vs Ryland. A great endfight will take place, where u have about 500 Ancient Behemots, 350 Blackies, 1000 diamond golems etc....this is a good example how ineffective "lightning bolt" can be in endfight..

You said it Angelito - its just "fun" no real playing. Here must be drawn a line between competitive game and one just for fun. If you want a game just for fun you must allow dimension door, fly, Necroposil and so on...basicly the "no rules" rule.

My favourite town changes from time to time simply because as i learn new ways of playing and my style develops i find that towns i previously thought sucked,have many redeeming benefits when ya look moe closely at the options and styles of playing that present themselves in various situations and on different random maps.
Currently i am playing a lot of "3do" or "regular" randoms.My favourite at the moment for this type of map is Fortress because of its versitility( i think somebody mentioned fortress being a weak town in a post above....LOL NO).Strong ground troop,great flyers from the early stages of the game,usually a pck of shooters from early on and some of the best heroes in the game make this one of the strongest and most fun towns in the game IMO.
Look at some of the benefits,good chance of getting a hero with creature bonus in tavern day 1 (Gnolls,Lizards,Flies AND Basilisks are all there to be had),excellent scout movement from day 1(speed 9 on all scouts the only other town that can boast this day 1 is conflux,only available with upgrade),hives availability(get a hive or two in your area and ya dont even need to bother building Hydras and basilisks on a fast map,do your upgrades and rush it),and of course the ultimate level 7 terminator AKA The Mighty Moo(nuff said )
Fortess is a very powerfull,fast and relatively cheap town that can hold its own in any combat situation from the early stages to the late stages of the game whether vs heavy ground units or shooters or banks/crypts.

Favourite town is TOWER!!!
reason? just for it's looks  the visual representation of the whole town. ALso the creatures too  love teh gremlins! Tower is probably the second worst alignment to use though  units too expensive, slow development... lack of decent heroes (Neela good, but skill slow wasted on scholar, solmyr average, really good starting hero though, take a few troops and chain your way through, replenish at wells, makes good scout

I would say that Dungeon is the best castle. Just to many things to do.
I dont know if that still counts for WOG 3.58f.
Anyhow, i am so good it dont really matters what i play i would win anyhow from 98% Heroes 3 players.
