Aye, I was reading some news about it. It looks like it'll backfire, eventually, if they don't step back.
Gaming industry is really under duress from many fronts, but we all know who are the ones paying for it in the end, and these are not the ones who are being most benefitted by any of it.
It reminds me of Valve's Workshop policy regarding Dota 2 community. The greed is relatable, when no one seems to find a fair alternative.

Never liked Unity. I think somewhere around 2015 we had to make some projects with it in university, and the more I used it the more I hated it. Everyone using the same, proprietary engine for their games is just a bad idea by itself. I can't lie and say I'm not at least somewhat amused by this outcome. Godot is where it's at, open source ftw. If people actually put their money where their mouth is, this is a net positive for the future of gamedev.

Yes. There's a point in having events like this, which can turn out for the better in perspective, if people are aware of the alternatives, that is.

Godot is very promising but still very young and a lot of problems to fix still. But it's growing and will get there no doubt.

I bounced off Godot 3.5. Been slowly trying Godot 4 and liking it way more.
Very new to this whole thing, but it feels like I can actually get done what I want to do with a couple tutorials, and the in engine stuff actually explains itself way better.
