Wish: Recorder

I sometimes play tournaments where every participant starts with a save of a game and the goal is to finish the map as fast as possible. The winner is usually twice as fast as I am. Sometimes I've played H3 online and was stomped into the ground without knowing why my opponent was so fast and had so many creatures.

When I play chess and lose a game, I can analyse my moves at home and learn much from my mistakes. In heroes I often don't learn a single thing and keep on making the same mistakes again and again. Therefore my big wish for future HoMM releases is a game recorder!

Imagine you can replay the whole game and watch the moves of your opponent. You can see how he managed to fight the wandering monsters and what artifacts he found. You can learn a lot - even if you didn't play the game but someone else did.

Imagine that cheating is nearly impossible because everyone can easily check up why you have 10 black dragons and your opponent only has a few champions.

Imagine you wonder how anyone can finish the first scenario of the might campaign on champion level and the answer is a simple file where everything has been recorded!

The game recorder should be optional, of course. Not everyone is interested in sharing the secrets of the game. But I personally would not play against such an opponent.

What do you think?

Well that is interesting (and good) idea. With this idea you could make HOMM "schools".

Good idea, though you could use ex. VCR to record just your own moves! And there's a lots of good programs to do it with your PC too!!
You could also ask for your friends to share some of those tapes/mpg's they have recorded. Therefore you could check if they're cheated or what?! This would mean that everyone within the same tournament should record their moves, hmmm?

I applaud the idea, but...

Unfortunately, this would require a fair amount of extra space on the Hard Drive, and with people sending videos like that to eachother...well, I guess what I'm trying to say is, not everyone has DSL

The recorder I thought of doesn't need lots of space. It simply has to record e.g. "player 1 moves with army A from (x1, y1) to (x2, y2), takes artifact (z), and moves on from (x2, y2) to (x3, y3)", similar thing in battles. Every action of every player has to be recorded and can easy be replayed.

Off-topic: Bonus applied.

Moderator's note: A nice wish. It's plain and simple.

Record how you beat a campaign and demonstrate to your friends how you beat a particular scenario and campaign.

I'd be fairly interested in seeing the opponents turn also. Would be nice to see the battle they fought and so on. On seconds thoughts I'd like to select which of the players' turns I would like to see.

And a compact format is a must. Can't save a recorded game in a graphic format.
