Conquest of the New Land map
Has anyone tried that Conquest of the New Land map (downloadable from CH) created by Link? That map is tough and not very fun to play IMO. The creature stacks on that map are far too large. 19 devils block the path that leads to the outside world. Another road is blocked by a dozen dragon golems. You are stuck in that pathetic little area. I gave up after month 2.
BTW, I tried the map on Advanced level and played the red player.

You got to month 2?
I give it up the second week.
This map sucks.
Its small for 6 players and has little recources and things to do.
I dont mind waiting 3 months to gather the army but you have to keep me busy those 3 months.
If you want a real good map try WorldLeader2.
Great map with lot of things to do.
I think its in version 1.02 now.
I have finished it 2 times on expert and hard.
Took me 10 months and got black dragon both times.
The first time i had a level 63 hero!
Thats the kinda map that i like...BIG AND WITH LOTS OF THINGS TO DO!!!

I can't seem to finish anything bigger than a medium map. I find it very boring to play when it's clear that I'm going to win. Anyone else like that?

Not me. I have lots of patience and usually play all the maps from beginning to the very end, if the map is not too boring.

Just finished a large map titled "Riverway". It's a pretty interesting map with lots of places to explore. I finished with a Level 40 hero.

I'm going to provide a more objective counter-view of this high quality multi-player map by reprinting my review of it which I had previously posted at Celestial Heaven:
Alright dude, played your map for a good 5 hours (on advanced) and then quit cos I was getting bored - owned east and south half of map and clean-up was getting dull.
My rating of this map:
Single Player: 5 / 10
Multi-Player: 8 / 10
Generally:
Nice work Mildy more difficult than the standard layout you find around your base, but this was a good thing. Some very tough creatures guarding relatively minor power-ups and the like, but because you've allowed some skirting and freebies, this works to add some weight to the standard early strategic decisions. Provided for some tough mid-game player options (go the sea/push inland kinda stuff) and well balanced the 5 players without making them identical (though not exceptionally diverse either). Still, these two combos and the map layout make for a great multi-player map. I'm looking forward to next weekend when my friends come round again for another 20 hour marathon of hotseat gaming. Actually, this is the best human-mplayer XL map for H4 I've seen so far (only seen 8 though). On visuals, all the right care has been taken to make sure that the map looks good (and realistic) and this is something to be appreciated.
Reccomendations:
This is currently purely a multi-player map. Single player sucks because:
Single Player:
There is no story-line whatsoever. There are 'effectively' no quests or side interests of value. Hence, there is a complete absense of purpose other than kill thrill (which makes the 2nd half of game practically unplayable - boredom). At the very least, it should be adapted to include a means of alternative victory other than kill everybody (very dull in H4 due to the lack of a default 7 day death). This map would very comfortable accomodate an underground and the increased options it would bring.
Multi-player:
Excellent as it is for multi-player. Personally, I would like to see underground options added (for a third route alternative) and even possibly a couple teleporters (for a fourth). The maps limited amount of artifacts (savagely guarded as well) works well enough and makes those that you get quite appreciated. However, some tough side quests for more artifacts would really benefit human mplayer as well.
Overall:
If you're playing hot-seat games, definately download this map. It's very playable and considering the very limited options available right now, is comparatively quite a gem. If it's just for single player, I'd wait for version 1.1 or go back and give the campaigns another whirl.
Incidentally, I played it on advanced and this is certainly a map that warrants it. Champion would make for an exceptionally long game and there is no chance in hell that any of your computer opponents are gonna get anything done on champ setting.
