GEEZ! Wesley...
Quote: ...he also made this song out of American Pie song of madonna!...
American Pie is a Don Maclean song... and just for the record, The Saga Begins (Weird Al's version) has better lyrics and a much better video clip (than Episode One)...

I listen to loads of different music styles - from black metal to new age (no kidding ) - but the best single artists would probably have to be Mike Oldfield, Tim Story and Christopher Franke.

Weird Al is funny, yea, but I don't think he's a real artist 'cause he only makes covers with new lyrics. Has he made any songs of his own?

Heh, the only name here I recognise is Weird Al. Well, that and Monet .
My favorite singer is Jussi Bjorling, if that counts.
If it's more singer/songwriter, it'd be a toss up between Paul McCartney and John Lennon, at least in their Beatles days. Lennon wrote better lyrics, and was musically more revolutionary, but McCartney come up with some truly beautiful tunes - 'For no one', 'Here, there, and everywhere', and of course the ubiquitous 'Yesterday'. Ah, the Beatles .
I must agree though, Weird Al rocks.
It's all about the Pentiums, baby!

Well, you could always start a new thread about real art .
Quote: Weird Al is funny, yea, but I don't think he's a real artist 'cause he only makes covers with new lyrics. Has he made any songs of his own?
I think his albums are all half and half. I've only listened to one (Running with Scissors) myself, but I seem to recall reading that somewhere. From those I've heard though, I'd say the parodies are mostly better than the originals. It's the parodies, of course, that he's famous for.

Music is tough
anything on the factory or disque du crepescule label, seein roxy music last year was a big high point for me also The rest I love, The The, Wire, Jazz Butcher and many others, none of u know (and I did see the first show of the smiths in the US back in about 1982 at the danceteria in NYC.
Art
Roy Lichtenstein is great stuff (hehe im a cartoon guy) all the bauhaus period stuff (Paul Klee one of my favorites)
also love Dali (of course)and Francis Bacon. anything that Frank Lloyd Wright produced I call art

eh...
Frank Llyod Wright created some art, but u can't say everythign he attempted was art. Unless the pool of juice you spilled on the floor the other day is also art.
Some artists inspire slavish devotion when in reality they had as many failures as success' It doesn't mean they are less of an artist to fail, but not acknowledging that failure diminishes art.
Music is full of bad songs and failed albums.
Dali is one of my favorites, also many of the realists, and I'd consider Leonardo da Vinci one of the greatest if not the greatest, more for his absolute creativity than any singular work.
