Differece between Heroes3 and Heroes4
So i where plaing all Heroes versions but in Heroes4 i was moved on everything.
I'm upset cos all new games that are comming up are maded on " Diablo II " ideea. So if u study Diablo II and Heroes 3 u'll both games are different.If u start Diablo II and Heroes4 u'll realise that u use potion artifact that are like weapons from Diablo.
So you ppl if u finishd Heroes4 just let me know how did u do level 5 from part 6 the last one, cos i'm stuck there and i cant beat them within 5 days.

It would be alot easier to LIST how Heroes3 and Heroes4 are alike!
1. There is NOTHING the same, except name of game

I agree OAE
The generic artifacts in heroes 4 suck as much as the genaric hero. You can just buy a longsword and they are all the same. In heroes 3 each artifact had its own personality just like every hero..

The difference is HOMM4 is a better concept than HOMM3.
(The AI sucks big time though)
Eventually it will be the best of the HOMM series by far.
Some people just don't like change.
Did you really want HOMM3 in a HOMM4 box?

Being non-TOH-er - here is my short opinion on differencies - from worse to worser.
1. Having ability to split your army into pieces during game - makes filling your head with endless and endless options. Having 67 pikes - and knowing that you can sent at least 7 in different positions to do or explore something - makes you losing time instead of playing - also it's hard to do it.
2. Having stack of creatures against non-stack-based hero is NONSENSE. It can't scale never good - it's bad design.
3. Attack/Defense not affecting so much your troops destroyes the classic. What we see is Metallica with their album LOAD/RELOAD which sucked anyway - what we want is the good oldie days of Metallica.
4. Graphics (as being not so picky about such thing) - are really not good. Animations and graphics don't mix well with the general atmosphere. While in Heroes1 you can see more like childish - but well drawn pixel-by-pixel graphics, and in Heroes2 more stylish - like the old good bitmap-brothers G.O.D.S. game - and after it well rendered Heroes3 graphics - what we see now is the art of newbie artists with no experience whatsoover. Of course it can be the artist lead fault. Just look at the animation how HORSE goes up and down on the bridge - crap.
SUMMARY: Making a game more complex does not make the game pretty - life is the most complex game we ever play - and it ain't pretty and fun. Once more - chess is the game with one of the simplest rules and there are tons of books written for it - it took mankind +2000 to build machine beating the crap out of chess grandmasters. Lastly making again more realistic is not the goal 3DO/NWC should be searching for - we are not here to train for real life, but to play for fun and fun is what matters - also the flow in your gray matter.
