Did you ever get through to the end, by the way?
I think I just came across a brilliant single/multiplayer map (great either way) called "War of the world"...I think the author is the same genius behind Empire of the World I & II. This one would make for a phenomenal MP match, a bit like Monster Island Great in sp mode as well.
Where did you find this "War of the world"? I looked on MapHaven but didn't find it and it sounds good to me. We play a LOT of MP around here so I am always looking for good maps.
Also can not find "Lord of War" or several of the other maps listed in this thread such as "Mountain Land", "Viking we shall Go" or "Rise and Fall of the Sharai"

If they're not available from MapMahvem you ought to find them at
h3trio.com
Otherwise, mail me and I'll send them to you.

Thanks commando. Can't find it (the lord of war) in Maphaven, but found it in H3Trio. Any other good recommendation, especially for AB?

Sorry for the late reply - been away for a week or so and my laptop wouldn't link up to the net. Anyway, as I may have already mentioned, "Fall and Rise of the Sharai" is a very good AB map; same goes for "Reavers of the North" (not sure if it's AB - may simply be RoE. Can't remember - getting senile). You might want to try the old version of "Unleashing the Bloodthirsty", by yours truly, but it's not as good and as well-planned as the new SoD version (both versions are available from MapHaven)... Of course, the best map of all times is Tang Wen En's "To Kill for Power" and yes, it's an AB map! Make sure you download the updated version (I think it's available from H3Trio only; MapHaven has a review of the map, written by yours truly, and the old version of the map itself).
Cheers and beers (I love beer)

AB, your final enemy should be a conflux.

Quote: Fall and Rise of the Sharai (by Gwhenwyfar, the mastermind behind The Lord of War) is another amazing XL and really shows how deadly the Fortress can be when properly exploited.
The name is "Fall and Rise" at H3trio.
BTW, I guess you are the mapmaker of UBT and "V is mine". What's your tactics for fighting the lord of resistance?
I've finished the map but I'd like to know it.
Have you played "221 B. Baker St"? I think it's worth playing although I don't like the two main heroes.

Uhm, yes, I suppose I am somehow responsible
The easiest way to defeat Draxinusom/Thorgrim is to attack with a big stack of Archdevils, 5 single stacks of Silver Pegasi (increase enemy's spell cost; also serves as a distraction) and an Archmage (reduce own spell cost). Oh - the Cape of Velocity could come in handy as well. Cast force-field, get rid of sharpshooters. From that point onwards it's just a question of anti-magic and force-field. Maybe get in haste as well, depending on what L.D. casts the first time around. Even if his troops gain a speed advantage (haste+prayer), you can always protect yourself behind a force-field until he runs out of spell points. Frenzy is very useful as well, once you have the upper hand.
(Note: this trick was suggested by Zhuge of the Inner Pentacle - I only added the Silver Pegasi to quicken things a little)

They're both SoD maps (there is also an AB version of UtB but it's got a few bugs I never got round to fixing). If you want the updated versions (which I have yet to post on MapHaven) drop me a line at commando_avatar@libero.it and I'll send them over. Cheers ;P

Do bear in mind that the version of "Vengeance is Mine" available from H3Trio is the old one - too easy. Anyone who wants to rip their hair out trying the new version should drop me a line.

Thanks. Sorry for the late reply because I want to try it and feel the pleasure (or suffering). It took me quite some time to make up my mind to play it again and several days to get there.
I will say it's much better than my own way. My own way is to bring Titans, Archdevils, one gold dragon, one Silver Pegasi, archmages and two master genies (they may cast prayer on the archs, any way, spells like bless will also be very helpful).
I got it from maphevan. Is it the hard version or the easy one? Can you tell me the main difference between the two?
BTW, for UBT SOD version, I found that you can use Hit & Run against dragon master (provided that you can visit the tavern), which makes it quite easy. Is it the planned way?
Without H&R, the only way to avoid any loss seems to be waiting for the archangels. Though the final battle should be quite easy. My way is to assemble Power of dragon father and send heroes with only one azure dragon. Just cast Force field and Berserk repeatedly. I finished UBT on day 183. Is it a good one?

Can't agree with you more. The story is really great. I think it is the best story-based H3 map. Have you played "the outpost of progress" and "the story of the fool" by the same author? They are available at astralwizard. Also pretty good stories.
I will also recommend "the dark age" although it is a large map. Quite hard, especially if you try it on impossible level (the author suggest no harder than expert). You need extra luck for impossible level.
