Chess - Tournament # 1
Rules:
1.) All wins and losses must be reported by each player. Each player must have beaten his/her opponent 3 times before submitting a win and vice versa.
2.) The time limit for games is to be determined before each game that the players play. Players do not have to use a time limit.
3.) If players cannot decide on a time limit, then the game will be set for 10 min.
Here is the schedule:
(If time zones are conflicting than please ask for changes.)
Round 1
Deadline: July 10
Deadline Rules for Round 1
1.) Any players who do not submit wins and losses on time will be replaced by the first 2 substitutes to submit wins and losses.
2.) If any players cannot be reached then I will assign you another player. If I do not respond in 1 day then choose a substitute at random to play instead.

that rule is ok

lol well i vote for strict rules and fast games -what if players cant agree lol...
Quote:
2A.) All games should be set to the maximum amount of time possible.]
whats that for a funny rule ?
Quote:
(If you want a time limit of 10 minutes, then set the online game to 2 hours. If any player has less than 1 hr 50 min, then he/she is over the limit)]
dumb rule...sorry i have played and organized a lot chess tourney but thats the dumbest rule i ever heared.
Quote:
3.) Players may decide before the game: that a time limit should not be used unless it is a stalemate. (If a stalemate occurs and Player 1 is over the time limit, but Player 2 isn't, than Player 2 wins.]
no comment
Quote:
3A.) Players may decide before the game: the player with the most remaining time wins if a stalemate occurs.]
why ? stalemate is a draw if we playin in a best of series a draw wont hurt anyone.
Quote:
4.) No more than 2 "time-runout" losses can be given in each round for both players total. This includes rules 3 and 3A.]
strabge....
Quote:
5.) All games with 50 moves or more can not be determined by time limits. Exception: See rules 3 and 3A.]
u ever played chess before ?
Quote:
Long and close games should not be determined by time.]
..i guess no
Quote:
6.) Any turn that takes a turn longer than 2 min results in a loss of turn.]
funny its gettin more weirde and complicated
Quote:
(If a skip turn is not available then do the following:
Player 1 takes more than 2 min. Player 1 moves a random piece other than a pawn. Player 2 chooses the move he/she wants. Player 1 undoes last move. Play resumes as normal.)]
WHAT THE FU** LOL u cant be serious can ya ?
i dont know if the others like that rules of yours - but for some of the rules are sick - i vote that someone organizes that tourney who has actually played chess before
if noone else wants i would volunteer

Couple of your rules are...strange. What the hell is wrong with stalemate? You're still under the influence of baseball, aren't you?
And BTW, that deadline...I really don't wish to wait to 15th for a possible game. Sir Elric put a reasonable scheme of tourny, let's try that. If it doesn't work, motorschaaf volunteered for next (and he has some experience with it )...
Anyway if we stick with this one...XeRo13g, I'm usually up online after 10pm CET, if it's too late post, we'll arrange something...

what the matter with you?
there are four players (including me) that are so called 'substitutes', there are four, what's the problem with adding two branches to the tourney?

I also disagree with couple of things in the rules. That is because the game is chess, and it already has its own rules we must abide to. So ie. stalemate is a draw and that's it. Also skipping of turns would be absurd... why not just have a total time limit for a game and if the time runs out, it's a loss. No need for counting turns, or anything like that.

The cool thing is.. if your king is locked and its a draw, you can just take more than 2 minutes and you can just skip turn and keep playing =D

The new rules are good (I didnīt see the older rules, but they seem very stuipid!
Letīs take the Sir_Elric tournament, it is not the best but, at least we are going to play!
And, maybe you are not going to like it, but RedSox should only watch this tournament, just to see how chess really works. Skip turn? Where did you found that?

1.10 minutes each player.
2.Normal chess rules.
3.2 games to be played back to back.
Ok here is a different approach, everyone who is in the tournament has to play every other player twice for points the player with the most points at the end wins, ok?
win=2
draw=1
loss=0
12 players = 22 games possible total of 44 points

I've edited the rules so you people like them better. So everyone should start playing.
Nobody has played yet????
Quote: what the matter with you?

The problem with doing this is that then there will be 20 players. 10 will be eliminated leaving 10 then 5. You will then end up with 1 player who can't play anyone.
