My problem with H4 isnīt the bugs, itīs not even the lack of online multiplayer. Itīs that the game is just not enjoyable. And it doesnīt become so when I keep on playing it. (Isnīt that unusual for a computer game anyway, that thereīs talk like this, about trying very hard to like it? I mean, shouldnīt it be:"The game is so great, I canīt get myself to stop playing."?)
There are many reasons for hating H4, but the most simple and obvious seems to me: In H3 you had a long way to build to change some empty ground into a huge castle. 3 Aspects: Creatures, mage guild, income. And you always had to think and calculate about what you were going/aiming to achieve until this day 7, and maybe even the next weekīs one. Whether or not a strong upgrade is worth its costs and the delay of one day.
H4: Quickly build dwellings 2 and 3, then try to get enough gold and resources for dwelling 4 sometime ... doesnīt really matter when, but shouldnīt take too long. Thatīs it, castle completed.

regarding bugs..
I do gotta say, to someone Brand new to h3 and h4, there is prolly only slightly a few more gameplay bugs in h4 than in h3..a lot are now accepted in h3, and there are even some that arent well known throughout the community that I bet some know. I can tell you I know 1 bug that is killer, and prolly ruin h3 if everyone knew about it..but I wont tell anyone, some of you prolly know what I am referrin to
and I suppose Lews has a valid point...because I think that if 3do releases multi and fixes few bugs Ill love the game..yet I cant play it more than an hour in single player without being bored. Does multiplayer really mean that much to me? time will tell

I have to agree with Lew's assessent of Heroes IV. It's just plain uninspired and boring. It feels to me as if 3DO was trying to win over the Age of Empire crowd rather than keep the loyalty of the Heroes Community.
I have logged over 100 hours playing Heroes IV and would often find myself inwardly cringing at the thought of having to finish a game, especially the campaigns (UGGGHH!.) It is a poor testament to a games design if you (((EVER))) cringe at the thought of playing it !!
I realize that much of the problem is with the sub-standard map designs.Imaginative map makers like JB, Hapkane, Salmandre, Re-Animator or many others would help in this aspect but I, for one, don't care much for working hard on a map when 3DO cared so little about the product when they shoved it out the door practically still-born.

well, the #1 problem that i think is in this game, is it doesn't have a good feeling... hard to explain but every smash hit game has this amazing feeling when your playing it. For instance! I loaded up diablo I yesterday and i was having so much more fun then playing diablo II just because there was somethin about the town / music layout etc.. that made the game more enjoyable, heroes III had that, but i think IV is lacking some of it, from the music that isn't very standout'ish, and the towns being similar, not very unique and boring.. Also the color schemes were pitifull, they picked this cream parchment color for all the borders which imo is god awfull ugly!
In heroes 3 i loved the borders. if you were teal player borders were teal which was key, 'cause i wub teal. So ya, 3 had that special somethin that we loved, and 4 is missing it.. But all our hopes rest on how the multiplayer turns out...

Quote: I wont be playing heroes4 for ToH, but thanks for the opportunity to play in a great tourney Ves. Mayhaps I'll be back for heroes5.
For now, so many better games beckon, why would I play heroes4 over NwN, WC3, etc etc.
Later all.
I think I will be the same as Rych. I had a real bash at H4. Not for me. I might however try H4.99 after 3GB of patches in 2004 and do a Mocara style comeback.
Next moment i get from working dumb hours (12hrs today so far ) I'll be loading WC3 up and going online.

What Toh will become
I personally think that we should keep Heroes 3 TOH and Heroes 4 TOH. I don't know much about scripting, but I think that it would be easy to add another parameter to submitting a win, which would be whether or not you played Heroes 3 or 4. You could then have Heroes 3 points and Heroes 4 points. Then maybe tournaments with both Heroes 3 and Heroes 4. This would be good for Toh unless Heroes 3 activity dies out, which if this happens, then you could retract Heroes 3, instead of assuming that it will suck. There are still many Heroes 3 fans out there. I personally probably won't play as much Heroes 3 if it's just Myths And Heroes.
was that clear? I just read it and it seemed kind of randomly put together.
