I'm ready to kill'em all, if I found them
Greetings, Heroes
Well, sometimes ago I was playing the "Pirate's Daughter" HOMM4 campaign. I was ready to finish the second or third scenario (can't remember exactly), which winning condition was the classic "defeat all enemies", but after a long, long time wandering all over the map I didn't found any sign of a remaining enemy. I supposed it was a bug, felt very angry and gave up the campaign (the only one I haven't finished).
But it happened again yesterday. I was trying my best on a single scenario, slapping myself on my back for my fast and lethal conquering. "Your personal record is about to be beaten", I thought. I was even playing with an absolutely no-reload rule, to keep rating counters untouched (there is a known bug that resets some of them when you reload) but then... the same problem, and the same rage. I have all the towns, my scouts are tired of patrolling the map, and I see no enemy army evidence...
What the hell (excuse me if this is too rude for the forum, cos I don't exactly know the content rules limit) means to "defeat all enemies" now in HOMM4? Does the flagged dwellings and mines count as "enemies"? Should I destroy all the abandoned boats which still keep the flag of their latest user? HELP! I specially like the killem'all maps but I seriously hesitate to start another one to get stuck so close to the end.
Anybode has experienced the same problem! Suggestions are welcomed...
Regards, and good fight

I KNOOO!! It's whack!
There's a stack somewhere.. Probably 10 skeleton's in a boat.
It may take you an hour to find it, but I'm willing to bet there's a small stack, not moving, just trying to kill you in reality because they can't hurt your game.
there out there.. mabey in a mine, mabey in a boat or something
happen' to me it did. Happen to other's, I know it.
Edit
you dont have to flag everything, but remember. There could be gaurd's there

Well, thanks
I'll make another try to find that elusive stack and save the map. And in the future it could be a good idea to pursue every enemy scout you see in the map, only to keep track of it (if you can, cos that eight army limit is sometimes very restrictive). I'm considering to start leaving one level 1 creature in each mine only to do this surveillance task...
By the way, has the AI the ability to guard its mines with troops (I've never encountered enemy opposition when taking a mine) or it simply doesn't consider useful this tactic?

follow the loser
the most frustrating thing is when you cant find that stack
the comp is not likely to garrison on a mine so they're prolly standing idle somewhere
what i do is if i see an enemy stack start to wonder i hunt them right away
do not pass go
do not collect blah blah
get em right away
not only for the win condition but also because they can hit a stack or a lone hero at some point and cause headaches
go get em tiger

Doesn't even have to be a stack. I once didn't win a map because the enemy still had an empty boat he had used once. As soon as I entered the boat with my army, I won the map. Great game, 3DO.

R.I.P.
I found them! A little group of ogre magi wandering in a distant beach, maybe looking for the girls of "Baywatch". My elven girls were not so pretty and far more dangerous. Now the ogres rest in peace...
By the way, I achieved an Angel rating, my highest (only for now). It was a surprise (month 6 was running), but I'm starting to love the new rating system. It takes into count a lot of things (exploration, treasury, best hero...), and speed is not so important. In fact, I think is possible to get far higher ratings taking the absolute power (killing more stacks, getting more artifacts, exploring more) than going the "speed demon" way.
And Celfious: Yes, the seven-day rule is out, but I think it's an advantage that allows mapmakers to create new RPG maps without giving the user the classical unreachable town. Maybe it would be useful some spell like "view enemy" which let you have a look on the nearer enemy stack...

Hey sikmar, 1st thing
Congradulations on killing the ogre's.
2nd. I never thought of how that's a map maker's tool. You could really get some new thing goin' on. Many possibilities unseen before.
ALSO!! The no *7 day limit* bring's in more realism. The question "Why 7 day's?!" dosn't
exist.. Bla
stupid ogres
