I have some more interesting details to add, taken from a similar thread a couple of months ago:
-If you read biographies of all the Heroes, you will learn that Marius the Demoniac (Spec. Demons) and Calh the Demoniac (Spec. Gogs) were married. However, it fell apart because Calh didn't share Marius' hatred of Dendroids. However, I think it's interesting that Calh's specialty is Gogs, and Gogs (Magogs especially) throw fire, and nothing nothing destroys wood quicker than fire. Not a coincidence. This explains why Marius liked Calh.
-Torosar the Alchemist's specialty is Ballista, but he doesn't start with Artillery, at least not in the initial release.
-Death Knights and Necromancers cannot learn First Aid, yet their blacksmith sells Tents.
-Inferno smithies sell ammo carts, even though they have one shooter.
-Xarfax and Xyron have specialties of Fireball and Inferno respectively, but they do not start with enough mana to cast them.
-The Brimstone Stormcloud in the Inferno is shaped like the continental United States.
Keep em coming! I love these sorts of things.

The part about the Champions makes sense. They're charging into a wall of sharp, pointed objects, so they're going to have to be careful or get impaled.

On the raising Skellies vs Raising Liches, it is actually on HP with Skeletons as well.
There is a thread mentioning it somewhere but can't remember where...

strange bug/feature
if you summon elementals in battle vs Fairy dragons - as soon as your other army is dead - dragons stop casting magic immediately and attack elementals hand-to-hand. You can easily kill'em, just don't forget to resurrect/animate someone at the end

Since you left without other army its probably long battle. So - are you sure the Fairy Dragons didnt just run out of magic?

I've tested with 1 Phoenix (no other army) over 2 Fairy. First turn i've summoned earth elementals. Fairy killed Phoenix and few elementals with magic. Then (round 2) they stopped casting and attacked me hand-to-hand. I summoned 2 times (40 elementals), lost 20 elementals

Faerie dragons have a limited magic casts. If the creature they fight has immunities to the random spell they get that turn, they will come hand to hand till the next turn when another spell is proposed.

Faerie spells:
Ice Bolt
Lightning
Fireball
Magic Arrow
Frost Ring
Inferno
Meteor Shower
Chain Lightning
EARTH AND MAGMA ELEMENTALS
Resistance: Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning and Armageddon. All Mind spells, except Mirth and Sorrow.
Immunity: (Master Genie’s) Mirth, Sorrow and Azure Dragon's Fear.
Double damage from Meteor Shower.
So, 1/4 times Faeries will not be able to cast a damaging spell, but will move forward instead, or attack in melee.

Faeries have 5 casts in total, so they couldn't have ended with 5. Try to reproduce the matter, like, try placing Blacks only and summon Elementals, see will they cast, if not, will they cast with Orb, etc.

I apologize if anyone has already mentioned this....
Quite a few times after playing through a long multiplayer hotseat game I have had the game crash during the AI's turn after performing some particular action (most often boarding a boat). I have re-loaded the autosave and the AI always performs the same action, and unfortunately I experience the same result - crash to desktop......
After having had this happen a few times and not being able to duke out a final battle with whomever I was playing against, I decided to try and fix the problem. Downloading the patches did nothing.
Solution: Load game but add extra human player or just manipulate which human player is which flag in the SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS screen.
When the map loads simply perform a different action with the hero that would have been the AI or scuttle the boat. Save the game, reload after the turn is complete and voila the crash has been averted

I remember a similar problem
I was playing with AI few years ago and while it's turn he couldn't exit from two-way monolith teleporting from one to another and back.
I remember I waited near 2 minutes. Autosave helped me.
Another thing:
Not tested but when I was playing with my friend, he told me that while my turn he could buy artifact in his town Tower for my cash but in the next his turn this artifact dissapeared . Maybe old version of heroes.

Once, under the blue flag, i jumped with joy when, after i ended my turn in my Dungeon and it was the 1st turn in the week for the enemy red flagged hero... to attack me. You see, i had not much mana left and while i was waiting for the inevitable attack that would strike me while i was weakened i visited my castle to take a last look.. and my mana doubled!! However my joy was short lived, because when the enemy attacked i was still low on mana.

Yesterday I completed a map named 'Pestilence Lake' and I noticed one thing... The map's author is same as in Gem's campaigns Just compare them That is very interesting thing because now we will know that he was a guy who worked in 3D0 company
I like his map style If someone know his name I will search if he has more maps He is a cool map-maker !

Well, it's not all that surprising, considering that Pestilence Lake and all of the single scenario maps included in the game were made in NWC. Did you think they were submitted by fans or something?
