Poll Question: Are you going to buy the expansion pack?
Are you going to buy the expansion pack? Do you consider it as 'something without value to help people of their money' or rather a 'nessecary expansion for all who consider themselves HOMM-players'.

Don't think so!

it depends on what they put in it. If it's not worth it, I won't buy it. Looking at the details so far, I'm not gonna buy it. However, it's still doubtful that these details are true.

Add to it 'with everything we know now'
-4 new creaturs
-new campaigns à la Shadow of Death
-new map locations
-improved gameplay
Is this worth your money?

My thoughts(Now where's my penny:P)
Say what you will, but I honestly think that people are expecting a bit much. New World now only has about thirty people on staff, half of which are most likely custodians, accountants, and others who barely touch the developemental side of Heroes. So, that leaves them with about 15 people to complete an expansion pack. OF COURSE it's not going to be as "expansive" as previous XPs, but it seems to include the basics of an expansion pack--hey, the Heroes II expansion didn't have nearly as many new things in it as The Gathering Storm will.

No.
I don't think I will buy it because I remember the last time I bought Heroes expansion packs.
I bought Heroes3 and both it's expansions, strictly for online gaming but when I got there I realized that most people didn't have the expansion.

Lol it's a cheezy campaign set with barbarians, wizards and necromancers getting along, prolly cause they're laughing their asses off when they introduce themselves and hear Bohb the archmage or dogwoggle the barbarian at the other end...
The rest is just a patch. They released homm4 before they completed all the objects and now they're using the things they should've patched in as expansion pack additions. No way, not good enough. Dosen't matter if they have little employees. Just because they are striving as a company dosen't mean I'll cough up like 25$ for a half-assed product.

I will probably buy the expansion.... When Heroes 5 is about to come out and you can get the original game with all expansions for about $10. You know, just to complete my collection.
Honestly, this seems like a lame expansion even compared to H3 if what we have heard is what we will get. AB added a new town and I think random map generator, SOD added combo artifacts (OK so they are too overpowering for multi, but they are nice for single player maps) I haven't heard of anything NEW really in this "expansion"
I think this is just an excuse to get people to pay for what should have been in the game to begin with. If TOH gets big on stuff only in the expansion, I guess I can still play H3 multi. Who knows, might even get another win or two some year

Maybe.. but not straight away. I stopped playing HOMM4 a while ago.. if this expansion pack improves gameplay to the point that I would want to get back into HOMM, then yes I will. If it keeps the 'feel' of HOMM4's gameplay (i.e. does nothing but add stuff that is already there without actually making the game more fun), I won't bother.

It didnt add many new objects or anything like that, but it did come with several new campaigns, and lots of new maps, some of which where some of my favorite h2 maps.

That was also 5 years ago. Our standards and expectations have gone a long way since then. We are (well I am anyway) no longer willing to accept the same standards we would have been years ago. I come to expect more now, out of every game. Because we've seen a lot of stuff already, everything new has to do better than the last. Innovation is necessary, grounds need to be broken, walls climbed, boundaries stretched, etc.. Don't follow the same formulas from the past.. improve and expand on them. Gathering Storm does not add anything that I have not already come to expect from an expansion. It does exactly what an expansion is expected to do -- maybe my standards are just too high, but I expect more. If you read through the altar of wishes forum, you'll find lots of great ideas from contributors which they shouldn't wait till a full sequel to implement (in a few years time).

True. However, innovation and stretching boundaries just won't happen with 15 people working on the game--but oh, I forgot, you have nerves of steel and are willing to wait three years for an expansion. My bad!
Quote: maybe my standards are just too high, but I expect more.
I want more too. But from my perspective, if we ever expect to get more, some of us will have to swallow our pride (did I say pride? I meant short-sightedness...) and yes, cough up a measley 25 bucks, and hope that that lets New World hire more people. Or, we could all petition Blizzard to buy NWC. Either way, the griping has been going on too **** ******* long.

I'm starting to wonder if some here are on the dev team
As they have described it so far, no way will I buy it. Sure, it's just a measly $25....but, that's half the cost of another full game.
