I have some ideas.
What about some animated smilies.
For example these are on my forum:
Those are just some of them, hope you like.
Ok and for some more examples:
What about people that have +1 qp can make maybe 25 posts in 24 hours.
People with +2 qps can make maybe 30 posts in 24 hours.
Then people with +3 qps may make as many posts in 24 hours.
Just a thought, as I have often got annoyed at making some posts, and then thinking of a really good idea but then not being able to post it because of the 20 posts in 24 hours limit.
I know that it helps to prevent less spam but something needs to be done for the people that have at least made some effort at the community, and no offense to the other people, but people im talking about who have earned some qps.
Another thing could be perhaps some new BBcodes.
For example:
[list]put text in here[/list]
And some others.
Also what about the ability to put Flash into some of your posts.
Maybe with a limit in the amount of KBs or MBs that are in the Flash thing, or maybe with a limit of only 30 seconds of Flash to be seen or something like that.
What about the ability to change the colour of HC for your own personal liking.
For example you may want to make the background black, and the writing all in white, and the HC banner in red, or something like that.
Or the ability to upload your own personal music to your posts, and then that would bring them to a little playing icon thingy, where they can view and hear the music, but only if you have uploaded it to your profile for example, and it is stored in the HC database or something like that.
I also have aanother idea for a kinda new star system.
If you get more than 7 qps then you may get a Blue star, and then if you get 7 more qps then you would get another Blue star.
This is just an idea though, hope its good though

It's been mentionned in the past, but nothing seems to have been done to fix it. Some BBcodes mess with one another and just NEVER work.

Thread starting restrictions...?
I would like this post of mine to be considered seriously, I know that I have a joker reputation but this time I'm dead serious.
The thing I would like to talk about is the number of threads a member can start. Todays rules are 1 thread per 10 posts made, sounds quite reasonable for any other members but William! I mean the guy is here only for 3 and a half months and already he had started 60 threads!? Think about it people, what will happen in a year!? 200 threads!? And with all the respect to the titan king few many of his threads... Well they are on the limp side.
Just check out his latest threads at the other games forum, does he really have to start a thread for each game that he wants to post something about? I mean this is HC this is not gamespot, okay so you got a QP for posting an intro to runescape or something this doesn't mean that you have to feed us all the information about games you have played throughthout your life, if we want tips we can go to gamespot and download the walkthrough made by proffesionals.
The reason that I'm posting it here is because as we all already know that talking to William in any form or tone of speech is like talking to a mirror, only you understand what are you talking about, he will just say "okay I'll be good and stuff  " or something like that, maybe be quiet for a day or two but then start his thread rage again.
I have also encountered uncountable questions from members about why they can't start new threads, many of us know that you need to get 10 posts before but they don't. It creates 2 problems, the first is that new members post their questions about starting new threads anywhere in HC be it related or not (and mostly not), the second is that people that do not want to post are forced to post at least 10 times before they are able to say what's on their mind and most of these posts end up as filler spam. I know that you (Valeriy) wanted to cut down on the thread starting but people are going to get their way anyhow, and now they are just going to spam a little before starting new threads.
You should try limiting thread starting outside the Volcanic Wastelands up to 2, 3, 4 or 5, depending on the red stars. That way new members will be allowed to start new threads without any difficulties and unnecesary spam threads are going to be cut down too. I know I maybe asking for too much but I thought about it for quite long and Williams recent actions were the straws that broke my back.
If it's not acceptable just think about a way of stopping William, cause quite frankly, within a year at least 10% of HCs threads would be William threads!

I'd like to state that I, LegendMaker, support TNT_Addict's previous post.
By the way, whatever happened to my suggestion of having posts made in the VW out of the post counts ? (A suggestion I've made as soon as you introduced the 20 posts per 24 hours limitation). Seriously, how much sense is it supposed to make to have a spam board (VW) if you apply antispam restrictions to it ?

Good points there TNT and LM. I think we mods need to be more active with our brooms, and clean out a lot more threads that are created purely for the purpose of simply creating threads.
Members should be posting new topics with the intention of improving the forum - not simply to improve their own status/post counts/whatever.
I think that we (mods) also need to be tougher when it comes to upholding the CoC - spamming can recieve -QP's but rarely does. This also means spamming by creating many threads... perhaps if members realize that QP fishing (throwing out a bunch of threads with hopes that one will net them a star) will actually cost them their stars, they will put a stop to it.
With regards to the VW, interesting point about count... the problem would be that if the yellow star hunters see that they aren't recieving anything for VW posting, the spam will ooze out into all of the other forums again.... *ick*

This could be avoided by having VW posts still count, but remove the 20 posts / 24h limitation for the VW only. Either that or stop counting VW posts would be coherent, imho.
The existence of the VW as a spam/flood/junk-friendly board is compromised by the application of anti-spam/flood/junk measures in it, imho. It's made pretty clear in the FAQ/rules that the VW are meant as an outlet for any spamming urges members might have. Then why limit (or even penalize) such activities in it ? It's contradictory I think.
EDIT : Almost forgot : not ultimately important, but there's an error on Today's page : it should be "No VW", not "No WV".

I don't understand what penalties you are talking about?
We don't penalize for spamming there, the only penalties that are given are for breaking the CoC by means of insulting another member, or breaking the censoring rules.
With regards to the "insults" I am extremely leniant, as I know that everyone tosses each other around like ragdolls in there - but if a member goes too far and the person taking the brunt of it messages me - then I will intervene, but first with a warning - even then I don't give -qps straight off.

One more legendary missunderstanding, it seems. I didn't mean that VW posts or threads get penalties often. I just wanted to point out that since it's meant to be the spam/junk/toss-friendly part of HC, the rules meant to prevent that type of posts in the rest of the forum shouldn't apply the same in the VW.
I'm aware of and totally agree with what you said above. Just wanted to make sure that your suggestion that you "mods should be tougher when it comes to upholding the CoC" didn't refer to the VW.
All in all, my "or even penalize" comment was intentionnally put between ( ), because it's the rest of my previous post I think is really important (so I'd appreciate your taking it into consideration).

It is not a huge priority, but could something be done with the "review this thread" thingo when you are replying {can't spell, English teacher yeah }. You know how it takes about three different pushes/windows/deletes what you have typed in???

ok summary of a new idea
get your thread noticed.....
....somehow... (the way it "sticks out to members" is not yet decided. Perhaps either bold text, a seperate 'last post' section, always on top (for a duration), ect)
The number of times you can get your thread through this, (in my opinion) is best purchased, like 1 dollar each thread, in increments of 5... but actualy.. there are other ways to determine how many times a member may do this. Once per time period? uh.. Per red star? or maybe one thread for every QP given~!! Thats the best one seriously.. 1 per QP given, has my vote. Is it possible?
(edited 14... 15 times in 5 minutes)

I am currently very busy with work, and therefore am very grateful to the Mod Squad and the AOH Team that everything can still run smoothly I will of course take care of AOH and HC but focus on most needed and necessary developments.
Since it was easy to do and in high demand, the LM fix has been made

I think TOH should come under Heroes Boards, mainly for the purpose of the newest posts of Heroes Boards/Other Boards (which is a nice change btw).
You'll often get TOH posts in the newest Other Boards posts, and TOH is mostly about Heroes, so when you're looking for a different topic... Not really important lol but easily changed if you agree.
