Neutral Creatures
This topic is about which netural creatures are the strongest and which HMM has the best. Personally i think that HMM3 expansion has the best netural creatures and I think Azure Dragons are the coolest with freezing and fear modes. I also seen that when people post ideas for creatures they are too strong well In this thread I think it would be great to come up with some neatural creatures for previous versions of HMM ( not HMM4 ) Tell me what you think and any ideas you have

I also think the Doppleganger would be a better netural creature than in a town. It could be very strong and could also be entered in a campaign with work

Azure dragons are great, but
but most usefull in some situations creature is DIAMOND or GOLD GOLEM - because they ressist magic where well - and in one map i've used them against lot's faires. Azure even that they are strong - they are not protected against magic.
And gold/diamond golems are good fist-fighters... hehe. I wonder why there was no campaign with some hero specialist with GOLEMS - that he can upgrade them into GOLD (by putting more gold) or DIAMOND (by using crystals or gems). Of course only for campaign...
Another usefull creature is THIEVE - have one in your army and you can get more information about enemy.
but if you have money (and I ussually don't except if there is 2 or 3 rampart towns) - then buy these "cheap" dragons - buy them.

Golems
I agree with malkia that golems are quite interesting units. I remember in a player made map (Titanic Pride ???), you have to face an AI hero with stat like (1 1 99 99) !!!
I have to accumulate horde of golems to bring that guy down.
But I think the most unbalanced neutral unit is ghost.
My favorite neutral is faery dragon. It is too cute to kill.

LOL yeah they are cute but I also think Golems are great to use to and all the Elementals are cool. The Azure Dragon would be the best though. What Neatural creatures are in the first HMM? I never played it. I also like Crystal Dragons too and Haflings are so funny looking

Thieves are useful, at least in the beginning to see if those lots of vampires are 20 or 49.

can a thief give more info than a rogue?
and are ghosts anywhere in homm3, or only in previous versions? i get the feeling that there is an awful lot in AB that i am missing out on.
i have only SoD and clash of the dragons. is there a conflux town in any of those scenarios? i finished clash and didn't encounter any, and they are not available in the SoD map editor.
and my connection speed is so woefully slow that downloading a map is hardly thinkable.
is there anything else from AB that i might be unaware of?

Yup, that was Titanic pride(One of my favourite single player maps), but it wasn`t a guy, it was a witch... I didn`t beat her with golems, I beat her with brute force

Peasants were in heroes 2 and Heroes 3 also.
heroes 1's neutral creatures... I know there were rogues, but they looked a lot like the Hamburgler from those old McDonald's commercials. They would typically attack you when you try to pick up an artifact.
I think there were also Nomads in heroes 1, but I'm not sure.
In Heroes 2, Genies were my favorite neutral creature. Hmm... even Medusas were neutral in that game... but most of the neutral creatures in Heroes 2 belong to one town or another in Heroes 3.
In Heroes 3, I like having rogues to spy on enemy armies, but I wish their movement was 7 instead of 6. Rogue will be a class in Heroes IV, so I guess they won't be a creature anymore. There might be something similar though.

Rogue, yup, rogue is a neutral in h1. Nomad as well. Other h1 neutrals include genie and ghost. Genies are very cool in h1, it seems that they have a much higher chance to destroy half army than in h2 (though I don't test it). The graphic of genie in h1 is also more interesting..... I miss it.
Henl86, have u also tried Angelic Pride ???

Yeah, ghosts aren't that strong, but against an equally strong, (or slightly stronger), army the Ghosts will win, because they will keep coming back and making more.

I say the more neutral creatures the better. Since there'll only be 48 in-town creatures, that means we can easily add another 48 nuetrals. Are you with me?

Enchanters r da bomb! With their spellcasting, these guys allow you not to focus on magic, but on brute force. If you have stacks of enchanters and genies, then you may as well forget about sellbook. They'll do the job.

Well, all the dragons are cool. "But life goes on...maybe"

Maybe it's just my luck, but enchanters seem to be casting the most useful spell when you need them. When I was fighting with golems, and needed much firepower to batter them before they advance, enchanters casted mass slow. Strange...
