Little Ideas
This topic is for little suggestions that don't change or add something big or that don't belong to a bigger suggestion. So now we don't need to make dozens of little topics for every suggestion. I'll start now with a few not-so-new ideas but it wouldn't be that great to start a topic about ideas without posting some of them, would it ?
1. The eye of the magies and the redwood observations and so should be flaggable and would show you the area without fog of war when you own it. Then cartographers would work like the old eyes of the magies but it would not reveal the fog of war even when you visit it. And the area should not need to be a circle like a squere, deformed area... or it would show all the swamp areas for example.
2. The fog of war and that space should be fixed that you could not see what there are buy right clicking on it. Also if an editor bomb destroys a mountain or a opponent conquers a town of another opponent the area you see would not change until you visit it.
3. You could not see behind a high object like a mountain or a wall before you have flying creatures. Also you could not see behind a corner or behind the wall in a cavern. Also the shape of the land would affect the line of sight and the movement.
4. I'd like to see more details. I mean, like in heroes 3, when I click on the creature's morale a list with all the things tha affects the morale (and the number how much they affect) and the total morale. All the artifacts, all the skill, all the places you have visited, all aligment fixing, events... Same for all stats (attack, defend etc.) And it would work on the comba too. Also when you select a spell in a mage guild/spell book a formula how the damage etc. of the spell is calcutated would be show. Below that, the same formula but with numbers and then the total. Same for daily income in kingdom overview. Also formulas for creature specials would be shown.

when you do k for kingdom i would like it to tell you how many mines you own.
right now it just says if you have 1 wood mine that you get 2 wood. what if you have a cart of wood (or whatever its called)? it'd just be very convenient

Yep, that's exactly what I mean. Buy clicking on the amount of your wood or gold income for example it would open a small screen that would have a text something like this (not sure what's the amount you get from a sack of gold but...):
Wood Income
3xWood Mine(2 wood/day)=6 wood/day
2xCart of Ore(2 wood/day)=4 wood/day
Total: 10 wood/day
Gold Income
2xCity Hall(1000 gold/day)=2000 gold/day
5xVillage Hall(250 gold/day)=1250 gold/day
3xGold Mine (1000 gold/day)=3000 gold/day
2xSack of Gold (500 gold/day)=1000 gold/day
Rissa=1250 gold/day
Total: 8500 gold/day

This is a bit tricky I think, because Nature allignment has level 1 flying creatures (sprites) while other allignments have only high level flying creatures.

i dunno...thats a bit complicated. i was thinking more of it just saying how much wood you get from mines, then under it how much you get from artifacts, mining skill, and estates skill..and any other skills that i forgot

When it comes to presenting resource/money income, H4 has attained a slight problem because some of the income comes in 7/days intervals and either as golds or resources.
All the new flaggable structures which you had to visit weekly is now flaggable, and the income from them is not reported. (Keeping track of when they will deliver is also a bit of a pain. In other words I usually have no idea.)
In this case I'd actually recommend that they go for:
1. Showing all flagged structures which give resource/money income at regular intervals.
2. Show a detailed record of the income for each resource. Right now the game shows the total number of resources expected next day (excluding the random resources.)
It would be more interesting to see the actual income last day. For Gold: the report should include all sources of Gold including Peasants, Artifacts, Treasuries, Heroes (Estates), Towns, Gold Mines, Resource/Money dwellings. It would be nice if each of these was reported separately.
Presumably, they playtest that players get the appropriate resources they are entitled to and as a tester I'd want a screen like this to make the playtesting.

Yeah, and look at the devil: a fork! I mean, where's the mean look of the archdevil in HOMM III? Beside I loved the scythe! And another thing I miss from HOMM III is the AI! I just got my HOMM III Complete work on my XP and played it. The difference between the AI in HOMM III and HIV is big.
And here's some more little suggestions:
1. If damage is rounded to zero or it is below zero the attack would miss, not do 1 damage. It's so odd when 1 peasant kills an dragon from a stack fo 34 dragons.
2. I think you should get the exact number how long it takes to a place on the adventure map. So indstead of 4+ it would say 7 or what ever it will be. Also in those spots where the "day" changes should have a little number in next to the arrow like 3 and so.
3.Thieves guild and marketplace (that should be more expensive like in HOMMM III) should be building not options. I also miss Capitol, Resource Silo, Artifact/Creature Merchants (should this game has a hero merchant?)...

A number of small wishes:
For things to bring back from H3.
- Allow recruitment from the Kingdom overview screen.
- Allow navigation to armies from the Kingdom overview screen.
- The Thieves Guild from Heroes 3.
- Marketplaces in Towns.
- Allow Heroes to sell and/or sacrifice excess equipment.
- Don't let the Heroes start out identical. (Give them all something unique, or allow the player to give them a unique ability when you recruit them.)
For Heroes 4.
- Improve Caravans so you can also Caravan any of your wandering armies to a city with a Caravan.
Edited:
I noticed in the Kingdom Overview screen that you do get additional information on the sources of income/resources if you right-click on the icon for the resource in question. 5 bullets were presented for each type of resource.

I don't like the Thieves Guild in H4. Tells you things you should preferrably not know at all or at least not until late in the game.
I also don't like advertising the relative powers of players the way they do.
The H3 one is better.

Ideas for MP and allies:
1. More interactivity between allies. You should be able to give towns, mines and other flaggable buildings.
2. If you're allied, by clicking a certain button you could see exactly what you're allies are doing (even in combat, town and other screens; you could even see his cursor) if it is his turn. By clicking the button again you would get back to the normal view. It is good for schools (first showing him what you do and they helping him on his own turn).
3. Take the text limit in chat away. Also you should be able to chat with all your allies in the same time.
4. When making a MP over LAN/Internet, you could be able to play hot seat game as well. Meaning on one computer the are 3 player, second computer 2 players and third computer 1 player for example. Of course this will be good way in groups who know and trust each other very well. Otherwise some uses a "hot seat" player to make money for the real one or spying on the others if the game is for allies.
5. You should also be able to be as a spectator in the game. This means you don't play the game, you just look what the guys do and chat with the players and other spectators. The spectators text would be in different color. You could change the target by pressing a button. You can get as a spectator by first connecting the IP and then pressing "spectator mode" button. Host can protect a game from spectators. Also by clicking a certain button the players would see the spectators and protect yourself from spectators. Otherwise this could get as spy game that isn't fair. Good for schools and big matches that have been waited for.
