Newsletter Mark II
Right as of now it seems that we have ideas, but no-one is pulling it all together and making sure it gets started. As this is the case I shall get the ball rolling and take over where Sir Dunco left off by laying out a plan for how the newsletter will be produced.
So the newsletter will be put onto the website, and at present onto geocities as it is free and easy to edit. The uploading of the newsletter should not take long with the following system so at most should need 2 people, one of which I put myself forward for as at present it is my account
There will be a team based system where there is a group of 2-3 people who are responsible for producing articles for each of the following categories:
RL News
Sport
HC News
Jokes (inc Cartoons)
Misc (including crosswords etc)
Interviews (with Val perhaps)!
If anyone's got any other categories let me know!
Within each team there will be a editor, responsible for ensuring that the articles within his category are produced on time, and are passed onto the people producing the webpages complete and easy to upload (and of course spell checked). Images are given in link form so they can be uploaded. the editor should also set out the layout of each article as it will appear in the website so that it is an easy job to upload. Those people who spoke about being involved in the layout I would suggest going for an editors role as it gives them the ability to determine the layout of articles. Bear in mind that the editors are to work with the writers to determine what the articles consist of, so it will not be some dictatorship!
I was looking at a turn around of having everyone signed up by say next Wednesday (to give people time to see the thread) then move from there to give everyone until say monday after that to have the articles ready and passed to their editors, and the editors to do their jobs. After that monday the uploading should be done by the end of that week sometime. I believe that it is possible, but now we need committment to roles and people to commit to doing the work!

I know many people have IM'd me or posted in the other thread, but now we need to let everyone have a role and everyone know what that is.

Sure we can have the geocities site as the place to have our websites but i dont think we should use that place to edit our sites, simply because the possibilites at making stuff at those sites usually sucks. What we need to do is to upload our finished web pages there which has been created in programs of users choice.
Concerning the deadline of monday is impossible, basically because once we get the lay out group together they need to set a theme on how our newspaper should look. A site needs a common theme to all pages, you dont see one page totally different from another at good looking sites do you? So just trying figuring out how the site should look will take lots of time, and then the actual making part of the site hasnt even begun yet.
Although once the lay out group has finished their work is more or less done since all they will do in future is just to edit in the text or pictures.
And as you said conversation between the different groups is vital, you cant get anything going in a good way unless you communicate about how you want it. And therefor i also expect everyone involved to make their voices heard if you think somethings should be different/something that you feel someone needs more credit for.
As far as im concerned im still waiting for that confirmation from Sir_Elric about being responsible for lay out part. Then me and lay out group will discuss ideas how the page is going to look, and once thats done hopefully we got enough people who can start working on their articles and lay out group can create the sites.

I'm still up to doing the Dear Abby type forum (Dear Debbie as Romana has dubbed it now  ), will need some letters sent in though to help get started. I do have a email account at heroes community, AzureMajesty@heroescommunity.com for these to be sent to.
Also just a note, I will be on vacation and out of town from September 18th thru the 25th, so will be unavailable at that time.

I know everyone knows that, but I'll post it here anyway  .
The grammar check/correction is already taken (by me ofcoz!).
And how I see the traveling of the articles...
authors -> editors -> grammar check -> the_one_who_puts_the whole_thing_together.

Personally i think it will be better to have the grammar check part before the editors since editors should be working as a top group and should then have their completed material. Although you do reckon that being grammer checker alone can take alot of time right?
Anyways, if you are still interested you are off course more than welcome to join the ship...

Well Lord Woock like Sir_Stiven said if you are prepared to have people send you their articles prior to them going to the editors then fine go ahead and you can be the grammar/spell checker and I think that would be fine.

This way would be have it's bad sides, too. Even though the grammar check would take a lot of time, sending the checked stuff to 6 or 7 people instead pof 1 would add some time to the list.

For now I'm not interested in any articles due to poor writing and lack of time. But for any advice for web page, html, flash, dreamweaver, photoshop,...I'm here, ready to help...

Its looking good, but one hint: when moving mouse on rest of screen i dont think the scroller at top of site should move. It should only move when mouse is over that area, just a tip
And we would always welcome a nice intro to our website/a flash based logotype. Will need to discuss this more with the lay out group though. But ill prolly get back to ya
