Fear is a USELESS ability against ranged creatures, because it gives them the chance to shoot again!

I agree !
Fear on melee heroes is pretty useless; sometimes even bad when striking creatures with ranged ability becose if u have GM melee u can only hit them once, and they can shoot at u agayn, after they run scared
Another thing i noticed on heroes with GM melee and barbarian throwing club(stuns oponent) after they strike and stun with the 1-st hit, sometimes they hit agayn sometimes they dont! Can anyone explayn that ?
Sorry about off topic

Black dragons!!
I don't like the fairy dragon that much. He's got magic allright, but still he's not that good. You need at least 5,6 or 7 dragons before the magic does any real damage, and with 7 black dragons, the damage will be much bigger!!
And.. If you set 10 fairy dragons up against 10 black dragons, the fairy dragons ain't got a chance. Black dragons' got magic immunity, so the fairy dragons have to attack manually. The fairy dragons, sorry folks, sucks in melee combat. Almost every other 5th level creature does more damage than the fairy dragon in melee combat...
So I would definitly go for the black dragons if I were to choose!
(Still there may be some times where you've got more use for magic than melee combat)

Dragons
Fairy - just like genies, in a large quantity they're invincible.
Black - heavy troops, but nobody can resurrect them.
Dragon Golem - their first strike can win the battle.
For me the 1st is: Fairy, the second is Golem, and the third is Black.
When I have Armageddon or a kind of kill-everyone-on-the-battlefield spell, then Blackies are the best choice!!

I have to weigh in with another vote for the Faerie Dragon. Especially with Equilibris, they are just better team players. As most people who voted for black dragons attest, if the fight is simply one or more faerie dragons against one or more black dragons, the black dragons will usually win even if they are outnumbered--but how often does that situation occur? Against a mixed army, the Equilibris Faerie Dragon's Cloud of Confusion is fantastic! And if one of your heroes has the Witch Ring, they can keep the Faerie dragon supplied with Mana. Add to that the fact that now heroes can cast Resurrection (and about d@#$ed time, I might add) which can't help Black Dragons at all, Faerie dragons simply are better than Blacks in the BIG PICTURE.

Blackies win
My favourite are the Black Dragons.
Pros: 1. Best attack/defense stats
2. Excellent speed (7)
3. Most health points (400)
4. Can do damage on adjacent enemy units
(Breath Attack)
5. Very good morale
6. Antimagic(but affected by Stun, & Binding)
7. Fly ability
8. Good defense (40) and attack (40)
9. Most inflicted damage (55-110)
Cons: 1. No beneficial spells can be cast on them
2. Growth 1
3. Cost 4000+2S
Faerie Dragons.
Pros: 1. Powerfull spell casters
(Confusion, Fireball, Fire Ring, and
Lightning)
2. Flying
3. Excellent speed (7)
4. Growth 2
5. Cost 4000+2G
Cons: 1. Weak melee (34-50)
2. Bad defense (29)
3. Spell points not infinate (40)
4. Succeptable to spells
5. Health 220
Bone Dragons.
Pros: 1. Excellent range defense (150%)
2. Good melee defense 30-60
3. Attack 30/ Damage 45-65
4. No retaliation ability
5. Cost 4000+2C
6. Growth 2
7. Flying
Cons: 1. Average speed (5)
2. Health 275
3. Succeptable to spells
Well, with the above said:
Blackies +9/-3 = 6
Bones +7/-3 = 4
Fairies +5/-5 = 0
It looks like Fairies are worse - we all know they should be rated better from a subjective view
But my point here is that the Blacies are undisputedly THE BEST of the three!

Oh, I definitely agree with you on that. A completely unoriginal name, that doesn't fit into a fantasy world like that of HoMM by any stretch of the imagination.
Anyhow, I voted for Black Dragons, though I like the other two as well.

Ah you people have obviously not unlocked the secret dragon of the game.
If you get a score of exactly 240 for every scenario in the WoW expansion you unlock the fearsome.........
CHICKEN DRAGON!!
The chicken dragons powers are awesome and feared.
1000HP for a start.
Fearsome Mighty Peck ability has a 50% chance of making the opponent flinch and not retaliate.
Cock-a-Doodle Doo spell motivates your troops to give them an extra attack.
Clucking sound taunts enemy army into berseker style forward rush as they think you're making fun of them
Comes in 3 flavours.
Cornflakes, Cantonese and Finger Lickin' Good!
I tell you my friends. The Chicken Dragon is the only Dragon 4 me!!!

Asmo, you tosser
Anyway, my favourite is still the Dragon Golems.
Sure, the BDs have almost twice their HP, almost twice their damage ratings and un-enhanced, one BD have 10 more in attack and defence than one GD. So one on one, the BDs are best.
But how often do you need to go one on one with lvl4s? I, for one, have never done this, excepting of course test fights made in the editor.
In addition, if you have 1 BD, you most likely have at least 2 GDs, and since one BD is almost twice as good at all things as the BD, two GDs usually beats one BD. Or something.
Plus, the BDs have the neat first strike/negate first strike combo.

Dwarven scum? Said the guy who abandoned the Light so that he could sit around playing a silly little harp for all eternity?!

well, the vote was for your "Favourite Dragon" so quality really doesn't enter into it.. but of course it does anyway ... comparing their capability of killing, Black Dragons win.. But consider the weekly growth too.
I voted for Bone Dragon as my favourite. They look coolest and, as someone wrote, they rock with vampiric touch. Also, the skeletal ability isn't so bad.

Imo, the Bonies aren't worth much without Vampiric Touch. Why? Because they have such low defense. Sure, they have a pretty good HP, but they still die too easily.
But once they have VT cast on them, they become 200% better, imo.
The same goes for Devils, btw, though this is somewhat off-topic. But Devils need Fear in addition to VT, so they are somewhat harder to protect.
