Hmmm...
One thing which should be mentioned in this Newcomers Please Read, but which isn't in at the moment.
Any user should make sure of the following things whenever they want to post ANY message to this forum:
- Am I already listed as last poster to more than half the threads on page 1?
And when a member wants to make a new topic, they should consider.
- Do I already have more than 3 topics on page one?
If either of these questions are answered by "yes", then you're kindly adviced to look over your posting habits.
As a moderator I'm NOT happy with seeing ten topics all of which is ended by a post which is 1-2 lines long from the same user, or five newly created topics by one and the same user.
This is flooding the forum, and even if the post is on-topic I have to look at this behaviour as disruptive for the forum.
If you feel the need to spend a lot of time making replies in the forum, then make half the number of replies and twice as long, or perhaps a third or fourth of the replies and 3 or 4 times the length.
Please be advised that moderators do consider the post length and content when deciding for the Poster of the Month Award.
Also there are already town proposals for nearly any type of town before, and also a loose Town Proposal thread for posting new ideas for towns. Try to reuse these threads for towns (look at the Altar Index). If you feel you want to make a lot of town proposals, then perhaps start a separate thread and post all your proposals in it? In any case try to avoid creating a lot of threads for making towns.

Well, the January cleaning will take away some of your posts, no doubt.
Other than that, I consider this history. Try to post more moderately in the future, and with this I mean more content in fewer posts.
I'm not going to give penalties retroactively for this, if that is what you're asking. That's not the way I'm doing things. Top. Top. Top

Well thanks, then Djive. I will write fewer, but longer posts in February and I'll try not to flood the forum. Anyway, thanks very much for giving no penalties. I will know what were my mistakes, in future.

nice that mods are keeping a firmer hand on the threads with the increased number of posters that we have now.
Quote: In the past it has often been so that topics died after a QPs had been applied in the topic, and this is something moderators want to avoid.
hmm.. or maybe it's because the topic has grown beyond the ability of the members to add anything to it. i have noticed the same thing that some good topics just die off. maybe it's because developing the topic will start to require a way of thinking that people are not used to?

I have been reading this forum for about a month now, but never dared to post because I wasnt sure of the ground rules. The rules page helps a lot. (I had been always coming through google and so never saw the topics list) Anyway, thanks a lot Djive and hydra for compiling the list. Also congratulations to all the people for providing great suggestions in various parts of the forum.

Yes, I agree this is the way it is now. But it wasn't always that way. I've seen many topics die very shortly after QPs were applied in them.
Top, again.

Well, I saw I received two +QPs. Thank you *thanks and bows wholeheartedly*. I was absent from this community for quite some time, but I'm willing to continue posting here.
LET's GO!!!!
EDIT:
I noted that you may edit a few things in this thread:
Quote: I also plan to apply this reward retroactively by applying 10 bonuses to posters who have made a good contribution to the Altar of Wishes during the past 12 months. (Who have received these will also be announced to this thread.)
I wonder if it's true. I see you apply QPs for the PotM, but there is no PotY.
Then another thing is that you already mentioned in this thread: forum flooding. You must add this one to main post here.
Also, as I noted, Table of Contents may need a bit of help, because last edit was ~5 months ago. We members could help you add a few (after you cleaned the forum), like we helped RSF.
The last thing isn't so necessary, still it would work fine:
MODs creating a thread where they'll post and summarize their proposals, polls and their created thingies about H5.
That's all now and may the MOD title be with you.

Feel free to put up nominations for a PotY award. Going though all posts is too much work so this would need to be elected by members. If desired we could give 5 or so candidates.
Forum flooding: I'll see what I can do. It's a thing I'd rather not mention, but I'll see what I can do.
Table of Contents. The Table of Contents can and should be used for adding new threads. When suggesting, try to keep your format as close as possible to the one in the thread. (So I can just cut and paste the text into the correct thread.)
"MODs creating a thread where they'll post and summarize their proposals, polls and their created thingies about H5."
We'll see about that. I'm afraid that I've little time for HC the last weeks. It sounds like something which ThE_HyDrA would like to do.
I'll edit this post shortly (=today) for the PotM February awards.
Noticed that a few QPs had already been handed out in deserving topics during february, so I'll just hand out two QPs now. One bonus award for gerdahs and one for the PotM award.
Gerdash's bonus for overall good posting during the month, and the equestrian gloves comment is funny.
I was considering Styg for an award, but I noticed nearly a handful posts where ThE_HyDrA had edited Styg's posts for unsuitable language, so thus no QP. But if you keep up suggesting and control your temper better before you write, you'll surely get some QPs for your contribution.
Poster of the Month for February 2004:
Regnus Khan
Applied to the post above this one.

5 candidates (not including mods) for PotY awards:
Gerdash: one of the best members to discuss about h5. No one-lined posts, interesting threads.
Consis: rather the least posting, but one of the best posting members here in Altar. His posts always deserve QPs.
Marelt: best town and spell proposals, one of the most interesting threads.
Styq: no the best, but interesting person whose proposals aren't left aside.
and of course
Regnus_Khan: citation by The Hydra: the poster that hasn't run out of ideas yet Almost, the most posting member in the Altar now. Dunno if he posts good quality posts

Poster of the Months
Poster of the Month Award: December
This is my first poster of the month, but I feel that Djive has taught me all I need to know about this profession.
To add a new element, I will also share with you how many total posts there were for each month. Although, the number may be slightly off by 1 or 2.
Total Posts: 362
Of those 362 posts, approximately 50 were Gerdash’s. The member with the second most posts was Regnus_Khan, with about 30.
Poster of the Month
Gerdash
Gerdash has consistently posted well throughout the month, and, in fact, during the past few months. Involving himself in almost every discussion, Gerdash has caught the attention of Fabrice Cambounet, also known as MuadDib, in Questions to Ubisoft. I thought this post was the most deservant of Gerdash’s in recent times. Nice work.
Second Place
Regnus_Khan. Posted frequently in the Altar of Wishes in December, also had some commendable ideas. Bonus applied in Okay…Castle: Life Town. One of the best unnoticed posts I have seen.
Third Place
Consis. Technological Advances in the Fantasy Genre An excellent thread, even posted on the Celestial Heavens website, which further heightens Consis’ credibility. Also posted frequently.
I would say that 362 posts in one month is one of the highest in recent history for the Altar of Wishes. Keep posting, because every idea can be considered.
Poster of the Month Award: January
January was a highly active month, even more so than December, as you can clearly tell by the exorbitant amount of posts during this month, which totalled:
614
A tremendous effort by the posters of Heroes Community. Well Done. (This does not include deleted posts)
Poster of the Month:
Regnus_Khan
The master of imagination, last month was placed second, behind Gerdash, as achieved Poster of the Month status now. The highlights of his posts were recognised with:
Heroic Proposals (Part 1/2)
and
Two Towns in One Topic!
Regnus_Khan is very committed to the community, and hasn't run out of ideas yet!
Second Place
Styq
Another excellent poster this month, with some brilliant town line-ups, which have been helped by others' suggestions. The bonus was applied in:
Styqstyle Towns
Third Place
Asmodean
The margain was very narrow between second and third places, Asmodean just getting the lower half. Has been a consistent poster in the month of January, providing a multitude of ideas. The bonus was applied in:
Gameplay Suggestions
Due to the immense number of posts, a fifth bonus was applied. This goes to Polaris who just missed out on third position.
The excellent post in Djive's thread, Heroes 5 Wish: Leaders was rewarded.
Poster of the Month Award: March
Djive administered the proceedings for Poster of the Month of February, and thus does not appear here.
While the Altar is still active, the number of posts dropped significantly from January.
The approximation is below.
Total Posts: 231.
Poster of the Month
Svarog
Svarog has posted consistently and with depth and quality throughout the month of March. Constantly involving himself in discussions such as 'Heroes V Storyline' and 'Tiles'. His input to these threads and many others has been excellent, and he is deservant of this month's Poster of the Month Award. Well done.
Bonus Applied in: A Storyline For H5 by Me.
Second Place
Coming in second this month is Gerdash, who seems to have returned after a break. Again, a very consistent poster, always providing an alternate view of the situation, backed up with references to websites. (Evident with pictures )
Bonus Applied in: Is BALLISTA a Creature?.
Third Place
The Third Place Award goes to the ever-creating Regnus_Khan. Again, in March, submitting a healthy number of proposals to the Heroes Community, which have incorporated other members' ideas into them.
Bonus Applied in: Ultimate Collection of Proposals.
Additional Bonus
Applied to Marelt_Ekrian for his The Semi-Town.
Retroactive Bonuses
Due to the recent inactivity in the Altar, and the fact that the past three months covers the first four pages of the Altar only, I have decided to hand out some retroactive bonuses to long-time posters and also a few to those who are promising and dedicated.
Bonuses have been applied to the following:
Gerdash Towns Based on Creature Experience (Expect a reply from me soon. You have replied on so many others' threads, it is a shame to see that no one else has reciprocated)
Regnus_Khan
I know how much these mean to you. Bonus applied in At Last: Regnus_Khan's Stuff..
Polaris
Consistently posting well in many threads. Always very refined. Interesting anecdote in the post; Bonus applied in this thread
Daddy
Indeed the newcomer to the community, but has been posting consistently here since his arrival in late May. The bonus was applied in this thread: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=132&pagenumber=4 but signifies the work that you have done throughout.
More Retroactive Bonuses
Vlaad: For his consistency and continuous interest in the game. Applied in his thread, New Q & A from Nival
Jondifool: A zealous effort to stimulate quality discussions in the Altar - a rare quality for non-beta testers. Bonus applied in this thread: predicting spell effects (non beta tester)
TDL: The quality and detail of his town ideas that may be considered for future expansions. Bonus applied in Orcish Town of Asylum (Just a wish...)
If you feel you should also have received a bonus, please IM me and tell me where and why and I will certainly consider it.
