Will Sandro will still exist in HOMM5 ?
Im curious if Sandro (not me) the famous Undead hero, will still exist in the next HOMM5 game. In HOMM4, he became nobody.
If you can modify a little bit of the story and appearance. What will Sandro be ?

I really hope so...
...and I am very dissapointed with my long friend's portrait in HOMM4.
Both in HOMM1 and HOMM2 it had the classic "grim reaper" look, which attracted most of his fans. Though it was an strange look, cos he learned necromancy only in HOMM2 and was previously a warlock. In HOMM3-SoD (whose story takes place some time before the RoE plot) he looked like a Sith Lord (in fact, it was Darth Sidious twin brother). This expansion was Sandro's game. He was the main character and I enjoyed a lot with his cynical comments along the campaigns. He was (and the expression never suited better) bad-to-the-bone. ;-)
In HOMM3-RoE-AB it was like death itself. My personal favourite, so I took him as my avatar in this forum and I have it as my own portrait in my XP's Start Menu...
But in HOMM4 it looks like a clown!! With that stupid tall coloured hat he's anything else but scaring... and this also applies to most necromancer portraits in the new game. Oh, come on!! I seems the skeleton-toy you hang on your car rearview mirror!!
About his future plot line, just check in my profile on this forum, where I have a personal interpretation of Sandro's biography. My story ends at the point Sandro arrives to Axeoth, but a lot of plots are available to such an charismatic character. If I were a 3DO CEO I'd make him seize power again and reanimate another remembered fried: Lord Archibald Ironfist. With these two guys the possibilities could be infinite: rivalry war, allied campaign, or even some more intrincated like the plan Count Dooku and Darth Sidious have in "The Attack of the Clones"...
Just dreaming, as always
Regards and Good Fight

I always thought that the Heroes IV female Necromancer portrait of Jessica looked very similar to the portrait of Sandro in Heroes III.

I hope as much as anyone that a lot of the portraits will change in Heroes V. Sandro is almost guaranteed to be back; he has almost as much of a cult following as the Heroes Series itself
Oh, and you knew this was coming from me: I WANT MUTARE BACK IN HEROES V!!!

how did I miss this thread before?
Heroes: namesakes of the game; very important! Then 3DO goes and messes up the characters & portraits.
Some of the human Necropolis heroes are still okay. They've never done anything special with Charna (or Moander, for that matter), but I like her. I hope she stays for Heroes V. A few of the new ones, like Damala and Lamentia, look good, too. The "type" heroes -- the ones whose portraits look exactly like the battlefield animations for their class -- strike me as rather boring. Why bother?
Hopefully, they'll kick those darn demons out of the Necropolis. It could make an interesting storyline, actually. If they don't, they should at least have fewer demon heroes and bring back more vampires. Where'd Vokial & Galthan & Thant go? And why's Aislinn suddenly a lich?
Someone who should definately get the axe:
Dear gods, what were they thinking?!

Aislinn is a lich because she used to have the meteor shower specialty in HOMM3 and liches are powerful spellcasters. By following the ritual and mastering the element of earth/death she has trancended into true undeath and lost the last bits of her humanity. One can trace the relationship if needed

shaowei:
But Aislinn was listed as a vampire in H3, not a human (though she looked kinda like a wraith). Are vampires not very good spellcasters? It sure didn't seem to bother Thant. I just don't see how one sort of immortal undead suddenly transforms into another sort of immortal undead.
Straker went from human to zombie(?); that's plausible. Moandor/Moander completed his decay -- while I don't like his new portrait, that kind of continuity is good. It would be neat if they have a powerful human necromancer like Vidomina start the transformation into a lich.
Medusa:
Yeah, my brother thinks Hexx is hilarious, too. Maybe he should stay for comic relief.
I'll still never hire him, though. Two hours of looking at that...eeech!

Straker was a zombie beafore ! Even his speciality was "Walking deads". But now he looks more like UNDEAD MICHAEL JACKSON to me !
Vidomina is a vampire ! And as you can know transformation from undead to undead is not posible ! Object must be alive when ritual of an endless night is preformed. Yes I agree Aisslin should be a vampire. And where did Nagash go ?
And by the way... Does enyone like to play with zombie heroes ?

Vidomina is not a vampire. She had a brief stint as a genie when she shamelessly stole Daremyth's portrait in one of Sandro's SoD campaigns, but otherwise she is quite human. Her bio from H3: "At a young age, Vidomina showed promise as a great Alchemist, but was driven from Bracada when it was discovered that she had been using her skills not to animate inanimate matter, but to attempt to bring life to previously living creatures." Her bio from H4: "Vidomina was a brilliant noblewoman who practiced a career in alchemy until she was banished when it was discovered that she was experimenting with reanimating dead flesh. That experience turned this scientific woman into the vindictive necromancer she is today." So, I maintain that Vidomina is a good canidate for turning into a lich. (Doing useless research -- yet another skill one learns at institutions of higher learning )
The H3 manual lists Straker as human, but he's a little, shall we say, "attractiveness-challenged" for being alive -- his H4 portait is easier on the eyes than his H3 one, even if he does resemble a green Michael Jackson. And you're right, his specialty is walking dead/zombies. So maybe he's not such a good example.
I'd rather play with a zombie hero than a demon one.
No idea where Nagash went, or Xsi either. Hey, maybe they eloped!

Sandro was indeed in HOMM1. He was a warlock, not a necromancer, but his portrait was the same as the one in H2.
Here's his new H4 portrait:
I think he looks like a wanna-be pharaoh, but some people (Lich_King ) obviously like it.

I don't think he is ever killed, per se. He's undead because his necromancy drained his life away.
In H1, he's already a lich, with the skeletal face and all. In H2, he's still a lich. In H3 SoD, he is first a waxy-looking wizard (with "slick hair" and "beady eyes" according to story events), then he's a lich. From H3 RoE on through H4, he remains a lich. How he pulls this little now-I'm-dead-now-I'm-not act isn't explained.
Unfortunately, I sometimes feel like we're paying more attention to details like this than NWC is. If they're going to get people addicted to their little world, they should at least make it consistent.

Well, in one of the SoD campaigns where Sandro is the main character, one event explains how he magically covers his bones with flesh only to make a cruel joke on a group of dwarves which are searching for the famous necromancer Sandro. He talks a while with the dwarves make one of his most cynical conversations and at the end he unveils his true skeletal face and wave out his troops to prey on the dwarves.
I've always supposed Sandro was able to look like a human only by magic means, but he has been undead for a long long time and, although 3DO people are not very exhaustive in story details, this seems a detail too important to be forgotten...
