Personalised AI
Yes, I know: this idea will never work if we don't fix the AI first but anyway. I got this from Chessmaster 9000.
---
In this idea you couldn't choose the difficulty of the computer by choosing the difficulty (hmm...). The difficulty would only handle with the resources and wandering creatures. You could choose the AI by a list that could be acced by an arrow next to the "computer" word.
There would be a band of computer players (with names more inspiring than "computer_hard") who would play with different style. They could even say something with the chat like "Hey, that mine was mine!" or "*sniff* I'm going to die, you'll going to win!" when your scout sprite is near the computer player. You get the picture.
One of the players would be a absolute novice that would do the basic mistakes of novices (like having one big army far of the home base) and begging for mercy. There would be a lousy looser that would cheat almost all the time (he'd laugh mysteriously whe he cheats) and an all-seeing guy who would have neither fog of war nor shroud in the game and know where the "good" and "bad" events are (he would mock your style of play and stuff. Also a veteran that would do the things good but little like the game was the 3rd part (he would tell about the good ol' times and complaing about the new times "oh, how I miss the liches! You like the other little boys don't know how powerful the were"). A barbarian that would not use magic or mages and would center on the mighty side (and talk with "me hungry" english about why the magic sucks and promises to use your bones as his persnoal table if you won a fight). And of course the opposite: a noble mage that would center his powers on the magic (would suck with stronghold! ) and talk with an elegant england why magic is better and complain about your manners. Also quick-killer that tries to kill you as fast as possible and perfect-quy that would improve himself a great kingdom, doing everything slowly but surely and try to kill you after he has a reasonable army. An economy guy would prefer resources over the experience and troops while a hero lover and creature lover would focus on the fighting.

The computer behaving differently has been in the Heroes game before. You had "Explorer", "Builder" and a few more I believe.
Novice: Not a good idea, you should set this by use of the play difficulty and/or map difficulty.
If the intention of this feed-back is only to generate appropriate "chat" comments to the player I believe the idea is quite good.
If the idea was to affect the computer's style of play then a few different strategies which priotized different aspects of the game would be a good idea.
