Poll Question:
Your favourite magic school

What is your fav magic school - I mean not only the spells inside the school, but also the spells from neighbouring schools and secondary skills associated with this school.

For example, my favourite school is Nature, because:
1) it has good spells (Summoning spells even on lower levels - and also quicksand is very useful against non-flying troops).
2) spells from the neighbouring schools (Life and Chaos) are also rather good
3)Summoning secondary skill allows to get some additional forces absolutely for free, especially good on higher levels (I once managed to accumulate an army of 20+ Water Elems only through GM summoning).

So what is your opinion?

Well, It's obivious, that it will be DEATH !!!

1)It has good spells (like: Hand of death, vampiric touch, poison, plague, death call, aura of fear, mass cancelation and etc.)
2)Has powerfull neighbour magics : Chaos and Order
3)Secondary skill - Necromancy (raises vampires, ghosts)
4)Can create very powerfull spells along with a Nature magic (Summon demon spells)
5)Good clases: Dark priest, lich, shadow mage, demonologist.

EDIT: OOOOpppsss, how could I forgot...

Order magic because of it's ability to turn entire armies into quivering jellies using things like Hypnotise, Blind, Teleport, beserk and forgetfulness. The other schools are good, but used right Order can quite simply stop every army it comes accross whilst it destroys their units one by one

of course Order!  Hypnotize combo with mytre is just too...sacrifice is even a better combination, but requires high level.  Luckily, order heroes can learn life and death magic rather easily.

Order can do it all. It's such a multi-purpose magic. You've got creature control spells like hypnotise and blind, direct damage such as ice bolt and magic fist, "pump-ups" like precision and flight, along with duplication spells such as phantom image.

Need I say more?

...finally someone agree with me...

the cheapest thing is to use hypno and sacrifice/martyr the target.  Try find anything cheaper than that.

Teleport is cheap too...teleport enemy ranged targets to your gold golem...

Or use displacement to push enemy non-ranged targets to the wall, and shoot them

Or berserk their hydra/behemoth when sieging.

Or town portal when you are losing a battle.

(though most of them seem to be bugs)

Purely looked upon the magics as such I'd say Order.
But everything surrounding it taken into consideration, I'd say death.  Lich_King has more or less summarized the reasons why I prefer death too.  Don't get me wrong, life is also very great.  As is nature (dragon strength!, mass snakestrike, quicksand, wasp swarm, stone skin, dragon strength anyone?)  But death combined with order (as ph says genies&vamps ), combined with a little chaos spell damage (or vamps+cat reflexes looool) is just unbelievably strong and offensive.

The best magic school is, without a doubt, Might!

1)It has good punchs (like: Cyclop Smack, Behemoth Embrace, Mighty Barbarian's Kick, Berserker's Axe and etc.).
2)Has powerfull neighbour towns: Stronghold and Bob Town.
3)Primary skill - Cyclomancy (knocks down enemy heroes, creates terror and mayhem)
4)Can kick serious butt with Barbarians and Immortality Potions.
5)Good clashes: Dead Mage, Boiled Necromancer, Ex-Demonologist and etc.

Seriously, I don't have favourite, but dislike Death.

I think that town gate or whatever should be in every spell class, its too much of an advantage for Order.. IMO

Death kicks ass, having mass curse/weakness .. and uhh 1 other one i can't think of kicks ass hehe

And you can't beat hand of death

Well....
In single player, Order is great fun. On large or X-Large maps with lots of time and plenty of levels its good.

But.... Lich is right. In multi-player Order doesnt EVER get enough levels to beat the Necro-Vampire-Death combination.

Order doesnt stand a chance against a Necro player unfortunately. Most games are over in three weeks and the Order guy needs 4-5 more levels for better magic.

Necro-Vampires will have to be tamed somehow in multi player.

Reviving this simply ancient thread

For me it's a tie between Chaos and Order

Chaos has wonderfull damaging spells and spells that really can turn the tide in a battle: Haste, Magic Arrow, First Strike, Mana Flare, Spell Shackles for the low levels, Confusion, Fireball, Lightning for the mid-level and of course Implosion Desintegrate and Armageddon as the three irresistable spells. This school also houses my favourite spell: Cat Reflexes. When playing Chaos, I immedeately quit, when I notice I don't have Cat Reflexes in my magic guild.

Order magic however is used to get the upper hand and keep it that way. It also has very good destructive capacities (Ice bolt !) and is more a pest than any other school (expect Death magic at the higher levels). Spells like Magic Fist, Precision, Dispel and Displacement are very usefull in early game. Also mentionworthy are Forgetfullness, Power Drain, Illusion, Slow, Flight, Cowardice, Teleport and the mass spells from Blur and Presicion. In fact, Order has the largest number of usefull spells, while Chaos has the most usefull, but in smaller numbers. (Who uses spells like Sparks or Slayer ?). As for the top level spells, Order magic is slightly weaker than the other schools (especially Chaos and Death). But Mass Slow, Berserk, Steal all Enchantments, Hypotise and Phantom Forces musn't be underestimated!

Life is a nice third, mainly thanks to Mass Fervor, Regeneration, Guardian Angel, Heavenly shield, Defender, Song of Peace, Holy Shout, Prayer and Divine Intervention.

Death is only fourth due to it's weak begin. Surely Curse, Poison and Disrupting Ray are nice spells, but can't match Haste, Bless or Presicion. I also think that Death has too much in common with Order and has too many summoning spells. However their very powerfull end-game spells (probably the most powerfull or all) like Hand of Death, Vampiric Touch and Death Call save death, from the Disgracefull last place.

Nature is IMO the weakest school. It and Chaos have many similarities, but the most annoying part about Nature are it's very useless spells (Pathfinding, Terrain Walk) and it's overflow of Summonig spells (whom like Death annoy me too much). However spells like Dragon Strength, Anti Magic, Necromancy Ward or Fortune are more a gain than a loss (on the contrairy)

For the one who hate to read long posts: 1) Chaos/Order
                                                        3) Life
                                                        4) Death
                                                        5) Nature

Coincidence? I think not!!!!
