On big maps if you'll get another town that means your opponent will get another one too, you'll have one L5 mage guild and your opponent will have 2. You must be too god damn lucky to get dim door and fly. On smaler maps that's true, the game will end before even have build L5 mage guild. And Motordude don't tell me that I never played h3 before, you don't know for how long I'm playing and how I play and I don't know how you play, actually I don't give a sh!t about how you play.

Aphophis......read carefully.
I am hack and dungeon. I explore a bit, take some towns etc. I see soj on map and take it start of week 3 from the horde of minos blocking it. I wander down the road some more and I see a pandoras guarded by lots wyvern monarchs. I take this box and learn all air spells from it. Of course, on an XL random hack has exp wisdom by this stage. So my stats are now great, I have a might hero with the best spells in the game. The game is officially over here.

On a XL random map everything is posible, you can get even armagedon's blade. Usually you find the tomes of magic in utopias. On those maps I don't think you have to worry about spels.
Lazy what do you have in that head, sheet? I said I only heard of it man. So put your conclusion somewere else, in your a$s for exemple.

My favorites
1) Castle/Inferno/Dungeon/Rampart/Tower/Fortress.
Like all these towns equally.
2) Stronghold. Not too keen because of the stupid amounts of wood and crystal needed. Like the heroes though.
3) Conflux/Necro. I never play now with because most players have a rule against them, but im not saying they are not good.

My favorites...
Necro.... you can't dead
rampart... thorgrim + resistance + diplomacy
Castle...I think the most equilibrated town all units levels are good
Stronghold... Hero offense specilist, behemonts 
conflux... phoenix grow + 4???

Why is using spells like fly and DD called cheating?
Hell,if that's cheating,maybe turning left on day 76 is also cheating!Or attacking a horde of lvl4 troops on the first monday of the second month cheating!Maybe u can call choosing dungeon as a starting town,when ur opponents name starts with "A" cheating!

Bout my favorite towns:
1.Dungeon!-I love warlocks and minotaurs and blackies
2.Fortress!-I dunno why,but I like basalisk!They're kinda cute!
3.Rampart!-Dragons and elves are cool!
4.Stronghold!-CK and T-birdies are cool,also behemoths rule!
5.Necro!-Vampires!They never die!Also knights are cool
6.Conflux.-hmm.4phoenix!?that makes ice,magma and sprites obsolete!
7.castle.-they were unfairly strong in ROE!From then on,I've hated them
8.tower.-TOOOOOOO xpensive!totally pointless!Titans,mages,nagas r not worth their astronomical prices!
9.inferno.-Ay dunno,just hate these freaks!Though efreets r nice!

I've never seem armageddons blade on the thousands of randoms i've played.
as for my not-so-expert opinion:
on randoms castle and fortress have the edge because of hives/cons
rampart is nice to play,by far the strongest up till week 2
dungeon has that mana vortex,nice stuff
necro is a toss
so is conflux a.k.a n00bflux
inferno is tricky,but very good
stronghold has behemoths,the most devastating 7th alive
as for this magic vs might toss.....
depends what is on the map.but might should win 70% .
