Answer to Misfortune question
I just signed up, because I hadn't seen the answer to this question (though maybe it escaped me): YES, Misfortune affects the damage caused by direct damage spells! My example is a fight against 80+ Ogre Magi with Kozuss, 7 Nightmares and 18 Medusae (trying Champion level campaign). Anyway, the first thing Kozuss casts is Mass Misfortune (ANYTHING to help, I only JUST won the previous such fight!) and suddenly, both Implosion and Lightning are causing half again the damage, with the bad luck indicator.

The strange thing is that I've only seen it work with the faerie dragon lightning. Never tried implosion. But it doesn't work with magic fist or ice bolt.

hmph , I dont even know why neone would want to cast misfortune. It a complet waste of a turn.I mean it.Intead you can cast a lessing spell on one of your own armies.Or use a direct damage spell instead.

anelf, why bother with blessing -- better go and hypnotize right off... unless you dont have it.
and misfortune vs. direct damage: if your hero can do 190 direct damage, or make sure that the 50 vampires suffer 25% bigger damage from your 60 waspworts, which would you do?

In effect, Misfortune becomes a blessing spell against a single target. +50% damage to that target. Mass Misfortune might as well be a double-strength Bloodfrenzy - unless it's dispelled. Of course, against Life it can be exorxised, but against Death Cancellation won't hurt it. A plus or a minus, depending on who you're against...

Against Nature too. "Fortune" and "Mass Fortune" will replace "Mass Misfortune" and "Fortune".
