Who am I to say that Necromancer towns are good.
All hail whoever it is, the expert with no advice to give.
It really depends on the map of course. If you can't raise your skeletons, then Necromancer isn't so good. Lots of high level enemies can really hurt the Necromancer, as you lose more than you gain from far too many fights, which slows down your progress. Lots of low level fights, on the other hand, makes it all too easy.
The big problem with Necromancer is the tedium. You have to play every battle, and you never let creatures run. The troops themselves and terribly expensive, so you won't buy too many of them. You can choose which ones to send off with you. I would usually go around with Vampire Lords + skeletons for my harvesting, then come back with whatever is most appropriate.
As for the Ghost Dragons, well, if you take them to a big battle, they are going to die, thats a given (unless you animate them of course). But they are good as backup troops, to age your enemy's top level troops, and cut their hps in half. Also to cast fear into them so that they lose morale.
And the big problem with Necromancer is that in every battle you are looking to protect those skeletons. It can become quite frustrating, because they have so few hps each, and can be whipped so badly.
Once you have a few thousand, you can kill most anything.
There is a campaign in HOMM2 which teaches you how to use Necromancer properly. You have 4,000 skeletons (through harvesting peasants) and easily take on 20 Black Dragons and win. But you need the blind spell on peasants, and slow as well.
Titans were good in HOMM2, where you'd have them to take all of the damage from attacks whilst doing your main attacking with Halflings. I don't know why, but the computer AI always attacked the Titans. In HOMM3, they are far too expensive to be very effective. Of course, the level 7 creatures are very much comparable with each other in HOMM3, so you should always get the level 7s if you have the castle

Castle > Necropolis
Because:
Halberdier > Skeleton (stronger and faster unit)
Archer > Zombie
Griffin > Wraith
Crusader < Vampire (Although crusader strikes twice, and it makes them one of the best attacking units)
Monk = Lich (Both have to stay in the castle or opponent kills 'em. And you can't disgree, Liches get killed very soon 'coz they're only shooters in the town... pro necropolis tactic is leaving Liches and Zombies home)
Champion < Dread Knight (Champion is almost better than DKnight, its cheaper and can be upgraded with stables... and jousting bonus can make ~ 1,45* damage each turn, while DKnight has % chances. And Vampires, Liches, and DKnights are so expensive and u can't disagree)
Angel > Bone Dragon (Angel's resurrection > Dknight curse + Dknight double + Lich more-hex attack... and u still can't disagree)
Castle rapes Necropolis, with or without these Cover of Darkness things. Stables is IMO in the top 3 not-dwelling buildings.
(Stables, Mana vortex, Treasury)
And these are facts, not my opinion.

Looks like you just can't play well, in particular you can't play necropolis well.
You wrote the same wrong thing in two separate very VERY old topics. With a striking arrogance. Very poor arguments and terrible logic. Poor grammar too.
Are you even as old as this thread you just dug up?
Stop posting crap content please.

This time I think Kicferk earns a pat in the back, you go outside your actual knowledge zone here. You have the right to have any opinion you want, but not state it as a fact.
First of all it is Skeletons > Halberdier. In a 1 on 1 the Halberdier will win but let's be a realistic. The battle is more likely to be 600+ skeletons vs max 120 Halberdiers. Skeletons will win hands down.
Vampire Lords and Dread Knights are considered to be the top candidates of each respective tier. Power Liches are worth their salt despite being somewhat vulnerable. Bone Dragons aren't much to hang in the Christmas tree but if they get a proc off it is a mortal wound on the stack. Zombies/Wraiths are often used as soakers.
But perhaps you missed the fact that Necropolis is banned in online games due to Necromancy. To sit with all those skeletons in the end battle will even make AAs pretty useless.
If I shall share my opinion on the best counter for Necropolis it will be Necropolis itself, Conflux and Tower with Orb of Inhibition.
Besides Swinm, who says Griffins must attack Wraiths and who says Vampire Lords must attack Crusaders? A smart player will just use your weaker units (Halberdiers, Marksmen and Zelots) until the Vampire Lords needs to heal up and so stops for a visit at the "first aid" tent. Comparing troops in 1v1 level vs level won't give accurate view of how the town is.

I'm inclined to agree on these statements especially -- this is both spam and necrobumping for no real good reason.

Necro is a good for big maps and it is kind of unbalanced because of the amout of skeletons you can do. I prefer castle or rampart still though.

Ok I don't play Necropolis, if S-L sized map or no Necromancy artifacts, thus lesser Skeletons, when Necropolis is weak. But XL-G sized map, so Necropolis is stronger.. Thus you fight against opponents too, you get still more Skeletons.. And finally you've only Skeletons and Liches possibly.. to compare other stayed 7lvl or some good HP.. Necropolis is weak, because poor stats, but it replaced Necromancy.. And what's the good? Necropolis doesn't need an Earth.. Important Air, Fire and Water, thus you break their Ballistics, and then opponent cast Teleport.. Necropolis doesn't care their town, their strategy is more Skeletons or Liches.. Diplomacy used well, so they go to their town back for Skeletons, for example.. Thus Fly or DD by taken artifacts, etc.. Greater in underworld.. I always playing to protect town, but Necropolis, I don't care town.. It finds many strategy, basic TP enough or Town Gate also chaining heroes.. But Archangels, Azure Dragons, etc are better than Ghost Dragons.. Thus Berserk by your speed and sacrifice.. If Earth, so TP.. Necropolis is a legendary wrong skill.. An Earth is always available! H4 too.. Liar campaign too.. Luck that Earth isn't 0 value or player learns it.. Fearsome, but if neutral isn't on the map, only opponents, and S-L.. You will lose to Castle and Conflux, for example.. Elite II map shows you how good Necropolis is.. Ok hands down, because you can't understand me.. You need 2500 Skeletons in 2 months by lesson/tutorial RoE campaign.. Do you remember Castle yet? Yes only day.. Wrong strategy means to night.. False again! Cult.. Interesting RoE campaign! AB and SoD aren't lesson/tutorial.. Ok
