Best hero is Gelu, the guy that turns archers and elves into sharpshooters.
But since hes campaign, the best heroes are the NEC, LOG, ARMOURER special heroes.

I think the best heroes are those with powerful spells like Deemer from Dungeon (Aislin sucks) or Solmyr from Tower & those with Diplomacy (Ryland, Cyra, Adela) and lets not forget about Ciele as the Leader of Conflux creatures with magic arrow in her spellbook (150% of your power)
And it's bullsnow that Sir Mullich is good.
Necro really sucks, I personally never play it.
Necro heroes are slow and except Dread Knights and Vampire Lords they don't have strong units.
And selletons are useless without haste and great numbers.

Aww, C'mon you know that Sir Mullich is good. His portrait is pretty dumb, but this is the best hero not the hottest.
And if you cast Expert haste on your creatures they become really fast. For Example Halberdiers going over half the battle field! Also It is a great advantage to attack first.

Yeah, I. You're right. Skells suck, especially when used by an expert necromancer on a map with the speed invert wogify option.

Those wogify options... hate 'em all, except heroes starting at lvl5... And this rule shocked me most - "heroes generate magic plains every day"

Tyris is pretty good since her specialty are champions. combine that with the jousting bonus, champs'll do a formidable amount of dmg for a 6th lvl creature

nah, the Best hero is Dogwoggle after finishing his campaigns. Yes, I know the guy is from HOMM 4, so what, he can easily kick butt of any HOMM3 hero as well, even without any army.

In WOG, Gurnisson will kick the crap out of anything. In plain HoMM3/SOD/AB, Isra and Galthran flood the map with skells!

Best hero would be either Ciele (150% magic arrow and superpower Conflux Creatures), Sir Mullich (+2 Speed), or heroes with good spell or creature specialties (e.g. Solymr with Chain Lightning, or Alkin with Gorgons). Logistics specialties are also good.

haha! I've changed my mind! my experience has shown me Kyrre, Ivor are sucks, last is good only at the beginning. The best are Tazar, sure Sir Mullich, Crag Hack and Mephala from rampart ))))
