Put your multiplayers (against real players) strat here!!

Hi guys ..I am new here on the forum and started playing heroes 3 and 4 two weeks ago and loved both !!!

I have beeing reading this board for a weak and decided to join here since looks like there are lots of fans form might and magic series here ...

My question is..since I am a noob in this game:

-Whats yous strat for the first two weaks against another human player on small maps..I know that everybody will answer that it all depends...but I think everybody already has something planned before start (the combos that will use, buildings, upgrades, etc)..so put it here plz to give me an idea...

Well, It all depends

hehe...seriously...if u play random maps on H3...

First thing u do is...look around....is it a resource rich map, or a poor map?. U see small openings close to road defended.......make sure u attack them day1, as a wood or ore mine is often hidden behind...

Don't buy more heroes than u need.. on randoms the number of heroes most often varies from 3 - 5 heroes (although, in some cases (like ring template) u may need more)

If using a magic hero...make sure to use scouts to check if there are any free ways of getting magic arrow..if not...buy mage guild...well can't seem to gind other things now....

well..I suggest you go for a creatures. Do everything to have Behemots/Devils or some lvl 7 units in week one. In second week your opponent probably will $hit in the pants to see your monsters comming.

Start with solmyr, upgrade grems day 1, find the grail, build nagas and citadel.

3-5? make that 5-8+.

if rich map go for top level creatures early if not try and find out what units you need to clear lot of map and go for them.

But before anything else you should learn how to chain units between heroes to pick many fights each turn, chaining is vital if you wanna learn/improve this game.

Week one:
-if mage without magic arrow, amge guilld, if not, dwelling
-two dwelling
-three dwelling
... dwelling, everything to get dwelling.....depends on how much money u've got
-seven citadel, castle maybe

Week two: lvl 7 if not achieved yet....then capitol...if not in desperate need of troops
-build eight
...
-twelve

Creatures I take:_Important units first, creatures that help explore map faster...maybe use 2-3 heroes for fighting
Number of heroes epends
First skills I look for: Earth, log, armorer, offense

In that way you will have creatures but you won't have money to buy them. You must have at least town hall day 2 and if it isn't a rich map you would better have city hall at least at the beginning of the second week. But if you play on 130% go for the capitol(it should be made day 1 week 2) and you will have 7th level creatures in week 2. So at the beginning of the 3th week you will have a good army and money to buy it. And that should work with almost any castle but it should be used only on not quite rich maps.

I always choose GOLD or RESOURCE as bonus before starting.
This will give you enough RES./GOLD to forget about claiming new mines the first few weeks.
I usually play with 3 - 5 heroes, but I buy just 2 the first week. I concentrate on making ONE hero far more powerful than the others - maybe level 20 + while the others are level 5 - 10.

TOWN: Works with every town, but especially tested on Necropolis.

Week  1:
Day 1: TOWN HALL
Day 2-4: Mage Guild lvl. 1,Marketplace, Blacksmith
And you should have a CITY HALL at day 5 (?)
Before week 2, remember to build a CITADEL. (Growth)

Week 2:
First few days: Build a castle
End of week 2: Build Capitol.

Week 3 -->
If economy is good, start building dwellings as soon as you
can after you've got the capitol. With necropolis, buy Mausoleum as soon as you can.

Creatures I take: Liches bfore vampires and dread knights bfore I think of recruiting bone drags.
Numbers o' heroes: 3-5, but only 1 super powerful.
Skills I look for: Necromancy, Earth Magic (especially when playing as Thant (the best hero in the game),armorer
Skills to forget about: Mysticism and Seamanship. (If not the map contains 70% water..)

500-1000 gold as bonus, you call that enough. And about those mines, you wanted to say "the first few days", right dude.

If you're going for the capitol you should have 7th level creatures in week 2 not 3. You're moving too slow dude, much too slow. But use this strategy only on poor maps.

Ofcourse depending on the diff u play at.
Week one: build up to level 6 + castle
         (for stronghold and fortress level 7+castle).
Week two: build up to capitol or the level 7 (depends on resources availible).
Rest : clear the mpa and kill opponent.

building castle week1 is not a very wise idea unless you are playing a rich map or a low difficulty (%130).

Becuz, when you spend 5k on week1, you usually do not have enuf gold to recruit ALL of your troops+a new native hero on week2day1.

It all depends on the circumstances ofcourse.
If u don't have any more area to explore without fighting then it can be better to not build castle indeed.

But if there is or there is enough money lying round still build castle ... or u wil be set behind in creatures compared to your opponent.

Just keep on estimating what to do ... caluclate the costs and play from there. But level 6 + castle is a good start

PS: most new players only play at 130% or lower .,.. U know that!@

Hexa: Yea right. But as I said, I was speaking for a fairly poor random map @%160.

However, having +1lvl6 with -5k gold does not make much difference for me. Becuz, on randoms, I prefer spending one of my turns for upgrading one of lvl 1,2 or 3 creatures in week 1. (no the dwarves of course )

Pig: Gees..... what can I say???? You really tempted me to toss. Keep up the good work in defeating AI (aka Artificial Idiot ) on single player maps in 9 months.
