Ironically I half figured that the next invasion would be on the part of the americans!

LoL . . .
Now there's a novel idea. America invade Britain? I realize we're being strictly hypothetical but even that is beyond my imagination.
For the sake of being imaginative, let's explore that shall we?
Even if the U.K. somehow lost it's ultimate navy, air defenses, and (god forbid) it's nuclear arsenal . . . that would still leave the "islands" to popular political European opinion. Historically speaking, Europeans have been trying to successfully invade the British Isles for thousands of years. To my recollection, it has only been done twice; first by the Romans and second by 'William the Conqueror'(of Normandy) in 1066. Countless other European nations, tribes, and cults have very unsuccessfully tried to invade and conquer Greater Britannia. Vikings invaded but kept their goals more local and petty than that of the common Mafia. Loot, pillage, plunder, and some settlement seems a far cry from conquering the larger country.
My point is if Great Britain somehow lost it's ability to defend itself then Ireland, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, the Netherlands, the Danes, the Swedes, Finland, and possibly even Russia would immediately come to its aid. If the Irish somehow became disabled and the whole of Greater Britannia was left open to invasion then France and Germany would immediately stake their historic claims. America could not simply invade the U.K. I'd wager that no country could simply invade the U.K.! Even if we had our own personalized Hitler the whole of Europe and Asia(possibly the entire world) would come together and interject to stop us. And it isn't so much to save the British peoples either, but rather, because for such a thing to happen would demonstrate to whole world that no one is safe. This is all so far-fetched I can barely even type it . . .
In reality, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that would cause the U.S. to invade any part of the U.K.! Even if a British atomic bomb were dropped on an American city we still would not invade them. Our two peoples are so deeply socially, politically, and economically dependent on each other that invasion is a practical impossibility. Americans love the British and many of them love us.

hmmm... well you didnt' reassure this canuck that the USA won't invade Canada!!
(insert bad canadian mockery here)
EDIT:
it would be interesting to see a list of countries that would come to the aid of which countries!
(although such a list could potentially hurt the diplomatic relations between some countries. ie:if im on your list but you're not on mine.)

When I first read the question, my immediate response was that I'd just ask those mean old Americans to kindly go home.
Then I started to wonder would airline travel even be possible? I mean, could we sneak out a back-door or something? If that was possible, I'd pack up the kids and go to Europe, I'd love to live and raise my kids there anyways.
If it were to come to fighting or killing someone, I feel initially like I just couldn't do it. I suppose though, if I were faced with an immediate threat to my children - I could probably do a lot more than I realize. I'd sooner never have to find out what I might be capable of doing in that situation though.
I guess one thing I could do though, is just travel a little further north, there's just no way the americans could handle the cold - they'd turn around and go back to fighting near the border - and I could have a good pick up hockey game with other war hating folk like myself. And then of course, we'd drink many beers and within a few hours forget the whole thing
PS To Consis, you said

Many of them? ha, there's 6 - they took a poll yesterday

Oh, Conan!" Why did you have to go and resurrect this embarassement of a thread?
I remember why I started this thread, though. I was sitting in the library of my "high school", listening to a discussion some guys in the year over me were having, about invasions and suchlike. One of them - a guy I had know for some years and had admired since the day I met him - were pressing one of the others with rather agressive questions. Apparently, the latter guy had said that he'd just go on with his life if Norway'd been invaded, whereas my "idol" () was more inclined to take up arms and defend the country.
I were hoping that this thread would become as stimulating as those guys' conversation, but it never did (perhaps because I didn't really contemplate what I'd say. Not to mention that I was (am? ) an ignorant moron....).
So, what would I have done today?
It's not easy to say, since it would depend entirely on the nature of the invasion/occupation. If the invading army behaved civilly to the civilians (and any POWs they might take), and gave us some kind of autonomy, I might just go about my business.
But, on the other hand, if the invaders were some kind of neo-fascists, or just plain cruel, then things would look entirely different. If so, I'd most likely stick with my old "steal-a-rifle-and-run-for-the-hills-tactic", although the amount of damage I'd do would have been extremely insignificant.

Ever heard of such things as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization?
EDIT: Jebus confused me, and we used a few posts to clear things up. We deleted them, of course, being the exemplary members that we are.
