In Search for the Random Relic
This post is adressed mostly to mapmakers and i would greatly appreciate(aka'owe favor to') if Thunder put some thought to the subject..aand prepare it for me and send it over.
heres what:
i want to put Random Relics on map
NOT in a hut
FIRST we place all 13 relics on map, with bombs on them...now..
we want to explode all but 1,in a random way.
thought of 2(two)ways(cant find a way with neither,but im sure it can be done in at least one of 2 ways)
1>in defeated army script..so when you kill guards..only 1 relic will remain behind it..other 12 will vanish..remember:its has to be done random,so it will be a new remained artif each time.
2>in timed or triggered events at map properties..
event will be set..so it will delete 12 bombs randomly at start of game(day 1)..'set random number' script should get involved,makes sense..still,failed to make it work.

Deleting them at the start of the game should be the easiest way to figure it out. I think you know the basics, so:
Timed Event (occurs day 1):
Sequence:
Set Random_Relic_Variable to Random Number between 1-13.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 1 then Delete Relic1.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 2 then Delete Relic2.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 3 then Delete Relic3.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 4 then Delete Relic4.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 5 then Delete Relic5.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 6 then Delete Relic6.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 7 then Delete Relic7.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 8 then Delete Relic8.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 9 then Delete Relic9.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 10 then Delete Relic10.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 10 then Delete Relic12.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 12 then Delete Relic12.
If Random_Relic_Variable = 13 then Delete Relic13.
Remove Script.
So you place 12 bombs for each Relic. Of course, there are other ways, but this was the simplest that came to my mind.

i used my brain for a changed..and figured it out
i have it done on a BLANK medium map with no under <-my upcoming one
so,whoever wants to place Random Relic in his future map..i can send him the file..its an easy script,but rather laborious one(30min routine)

Personally I'd like an alignment specific script. A number of the relics, such as the Scarab of Summoning and the Thunder Hammer are pretty dependant on the player's alignment and it'd be good to see relic selection of the player customised to their alignment. I think I'll do this if i ever get around to making a multiplayer map that doesn't get put on the WoW CD...

..now,this has to do with mapmakers personal choice!customizing according to alignment isnt some 'goldenrule'..if we put EVRYTHING in order,it wont be a game anymore,it would be a job.
LUCK is fun in homm4,much more discreet than h3..if you disable The_Ring

Atlest huts are reusable - a 30 minute routine once, and then copy and paste it into a new map.
They also wont take up 13 squares on the map.
When I made the decided to use huts it seemed like the logical solution.
Btw Insat - Your insanity map was fun when I lost to jiels on it the other day. Good map.

jex,Relic Huts in Battle of Basdards are a contribution to mapmaking library,i hope map makers will use em in future maps.
its just that i was looking a more visible and handmade quality to random relic.
and,dont need 13 squares,cause was thinking of being placed behind 3 different guards,at 3 remote areas.
this way,only one guard at every new game,in same map,will have a relic behind,and there wont be ugly huge area behind a guard.
btw,thanx for letting Refuggees huts in insanity.they gave it extra fun and twist
notice,that i doubled level 1 givings
wanted to raise some 20-30% lev 2's(specially neutral ones),but i let it be for now.
Also, replaced black dragon at 2 closest to town huts,with one more hydra..so hydra has 2/66 odds.that,to remove that extra-luck ,to whom may have gotten black from day3.
