And once all the proper downloads are in place, then you can begin to enjoy this map. And all feed back, good and/or bad would be welcome. Thanks.....

A very interested tester

Greetings, heroes.

- About script errors, I've also experienced some script errors when starting WoG maps, like the guy who wrote in this thread, but maybe I checked the wogify option for all maps and this is the problem. Anyway, I'm willing to reinstall a clean copy of RoE + AB + SOD + Wog 3.56 + 3.57 patch + 3.57f patch, what I think is the correct sequence.

- Anyway, My most annoying nightmare is about my many tries to Wogify and play an XL super-map called "The Lord of War", which I like a lot. In Wog versions prior to 3.57f the game crashed when attempting to start the game. Slava told me this was a known issue, so I was happy when the 3.57f managed to wogify it. Happiness lasted about 3 hours, when at a concrete turn the game froze... (I've experienced this freezing in other XL's) Loading from some turns ago and doing different things didn't work, so I suppose the origin of the bug is some decision taken by the AI in its turn...

- Hey, I really love WoG and I must clarify this is NOT a complain. In fact, WoG is for me far more interesting and addictive than HOMM4 and its so-called expansions. It has really brought a new life for heroes, as the slogan says. So I want to help the developers, and the only way to do that is by testing maps...

- And finally to the point of this thread... the "Mapmakers Map". I've just downloaded it and I plan to give it a try this weekend, supposed I manage to load it without errors. I'm a very interested tester cos I was an active Quiller during more than a year (now a sad lurker...), I know many of the authors and their maps, and I even tried to develop a never finished map as a "joint venture" with one of them.

Enough for today. Regards and good fight

If you go to my site and register and ask to be a tester I can add you to my 3.58 testers list and you can help test the 3.58 for glitches before it is released.  I have a list of testers on my page and am sure that I can add another Just remember that being a tester means the files goes only to the testers and there will be a chance that you could crash your game so if you become a tester know that you may have to reinstall the game sometimes.

I've just registered on your website as "Sikmar" (sikmar@heroescommunity.com). I don't play turn based games on the net so I don't have Zone or WoG Tournament nicknames, but I hope this is not a problem...

That's not a problem for me. Maybe if I copy the complete heroes directory in a backup directory I can restore the stable game later... I can even save a registry backup if the new version installation makes registry changes.

Please notify me in this forum if I'm approved as a new tester...

And now is time for Painted: the Misfit

Misfit feedback

Quote:
There is a map that will be posted soon on Celestial Heavens and then other sites to come. It's an extra Large map, two levels, single player. This is no ordinary map. This map consists of 14 different mapmakers and scores of scripters. Most, if not all of the people in this map have been around since the beginning of the Heroes series, but most of the names you should recognize from Heroes 2 and early Heroes 3. Originally an AB map, it was shelved for over a year, and now it's been converted for WoG 3.57f. There are some new scripts and some new surprises.
Once released, please download and enjoy. It would be nice if there were some feedback from the map, like if there could be improvements or not. This map was a labor of love from all the people who were involved with it in one way or another. Ohh..the name of the Map?

Painted:The Misfit Ver.1.1

I finished this map yesterday.  All in all a very good map.  I'll go to the site and rate it.  Probably give it an 8.  I got Fly pretty early on so was able to hopscotch some quest guards.  I didn't receive any script errors and some of the enhancements, especially the Emerald Tower and Level 8 upgrade "forts" were exceptional upgrades.  There was one part where I got stuck in an area of cursed ground, which I'd reached with a Fly spell.  Had to reload an older game but I'm thinking you probably planned it this way.  If so, good strategy.  Taught me a lesson for future maps.  Overall, I heartily recommend this map to any and all Woggers.

As one of the mapmakers (and editors) of Painted: the Misfit, thank you for the comments and recommendation.

The Emerald Tower is a new script I wrote that will be included in the WoG Options for 3.58 so you got to try it out here early. I think the script works fine at the moment, but I may be adjusting the actual costs for 3.58. In fact, I may also put the script into the forums soon to get some feedback on costs from several people.

As for the Fly spell and Cursed Ground, yes, this was deliberately placed there by Steve Hanna for that purpose. I think the idea was to stop people being too "greedy" or trying to "cheat" by avoiding the quest guard quests. Quite devious of him indeed!

I'm glad you enjoyed the map Jakester. Yes, I'm afraid the cursed ground around the final area was deliberately planned that way. Hehe! No easy victories allowed. You have to complete all the quests in order to win. The emerald tower,(written by Timothy Pulver) was too good of a script to pass up for this map. It's like it needed to be here. I have a question, in that did you have a problem with any of the death chambers you entered and did the green player give you any difficulty? There have been some reports about these by a few players, and I was wondering how they preformed for you. And again, from all the mapmakers and scripters, we appreciate the feedback.
