Stronghold seems pretty good, but I usually avoid playing it myself because it doesn't appeal to me. Also, speed can be a problem with its creatures.

Are you serious man lol? Thats why Barbarians are the best attackers prolly, you must be right
Stronghold=Mass Haste and boom, thats their strenght, how do you wanna play defensive with those units and heroes?
Ok, if you built clops early maybe you can build them in and so, but i really didnt do that too often...with stronghold you wanna bring your hitpoint tanks and wolf raiders into the enemy lines and crush them!
Back to topic, weakness? Well is obvious, low creature speed = easy hit and runned or overhelmed by stuff like Mass Prayer and a attacking might hero.
Also troubles with taking over castles, but if you have some clops kings again its one of the best towns to do it.
I rate Stronghold very high on every map, since you always get your behs and its rare you dont get a good might hero.

Wanderer, you complain about me saying that you suck without no particular reason. Well, I'm surprised by the fact that nobody flamed you when you said Stronghold sucks and didn't provide any good reasons. If you toss, get ready to get tossed .

I think Roc is the soul of stronghold. develop rocs as soon as poossible, if having good luck, even u can end the game before behemoth.

Why I say roc is the soul of stronghold? not only because roc is the only fly creature of stronghold, but also roc is the necessary condition of behemoth, in 200% difficult, u can get wood and ore from initial creature of two heroes, but you must develop roc for your crystal, aren't you?

Stronghold creatures are potent, and have few prerequisite non-creature buildings. Other castles require such things as Tavern (for Vampires in necro), Mage guild, Blacksmith and so forth. With Stronghold creatures you can just go straight through, and have all of your money on the creatures themselves.
Stronghold creatures are cheap and potent, and require few resources to build. Buying up to Behemoth Crag is the cheapest of all of the level 7 buildings, and should be able to be bought in week 1 in most games (even on Impossible difficulty). It is possible to get Hydra a day earlier, but Behemoths can be bought more quickly. Also, you can easily get all bar the Cyclops on week 1 (I very rarely manage to get the Cyclops on week 1).
This army will be up to twice as strong as those of other castles at the same period of time.
Stronghold creatures are number 1 for attacking, and great for castle raids. They are, however, fairly slow (as someone pointed out), which can make it difficult when opposing a big magic hero. You also rarely get much magic from Stronghold. You do, however, get very powerful heroes with bonuses like Magic Resistance fairly easily.
Stronghold doesn't really cope too well if you get to the stage of the full compliment of troops from, say, 3 months. You are therefore forced on the attack, and must kill stuff quickly and easily. They are good at taking over castles (probably the best on early turns), but not particularly great at defending them (compared to something like Necromancer, Fortress or Rampart). You are all out attack with the Stronghold.
If you like your magic, don't do it. But you should try it out occasionally so that you know how to handle people who use it.

this time i have to disagree the lowest costing lvl7 is the giants...but to get to them it does cost alot. Also i must add that the stronghold is one off the best if played by a master,it realy has few weaknesses...TIM

Well, I am also an active member - if I wasn't how would I get my 6 yellow stars? It really does require a lot of activity you know. I have a nice life, thanks for caring. And I never ever said I'm good at playing HoMM - and I don't intend to, yet. But even being the n00b I am, I can recognise wannabe pro. You are one. Why do I say so? Because...
