Poll Question: Worst change to HOMM4 so far
Heroes 4 is being shaken up considerably, as you probably know. Of all the things that are being changed, which are you most opposed to?

I'm kind of concerned about having the ability to move armies without heroes, to stack multiple heroes in an army, and to attack heroes. The first one bothers me the most, as I can see lots of single lvl 1 troops running around the map scouting everywhere and slowing the game down alot.

They are some problems but on the whole its looking good. My biggest problem with it is as a series its not improved much no big steps have really been made (this could be said about alot of games though) its still looking like a very polished heroes 1 game.
This maybe is just me but i seem to think with each new release less is added to the game apart from making it look nicer.

I would say that what I dislike most about H$ is the additon of RPG-type elements. HOMM is about strategy. If people want an RPG, they can get MM9. Bu I, for one, do not like RPGs, and any RPG-style things in HOMM$ will be opposed by me, for one.
And about the hundreds-of-one-imp-armies problem: 3DO said that the number of armies a player can have is eight, whether they have no hero, one hero, or several heroes. Garrisons in towns are the one apparent exception to this rule.

...I never could understand how anyone could really not like any RPGs at all...personally I love them, and I know that this game is mainly meant for strategy, but seriously, tell me what is wrong with RPG anyway?

Heroes Fighting...
I'm a little concerned about the fact that Heroes will now get to fight. I like the idea, don't get me wrong, but I'm afraid it could ruin the game balance, turn Heroes into a completely different game.

I guess Iwas just never a fan of RPGs. Somehow, I just prefer to play strategy, and I'm a little ticked off that one of my favorite strategy games is getting RPG-type stuff added in.

1 strange thing
I cant understand 1 thing : if stronghold can hire any hero, has strongest troops, has larger troops amount per week and also has better blacksmith what can prevent ruin of balance if one player will build stronghold for troops and any second city for mage guild only and another player will have 2 different cities (no stronghold)?

if hero doesn't modify your creature attack and defense,
then it seems that only heroes who are developing spell
power and knowledge are good. So the game will be no more
Heroes of Might and Magic but Heroes of Magic - sad....
What's the point of having Crag Hack as hero with +30
attack, +15 defense and it can't modify your Behemoths
attack skills?
But let's wait for it...
If anyone has screenshot from H4 displaying CREATURE statistics - please gimme to me. I want to see if I'm wrong or not.

i think that artifacts will control the creatures attack/defance. after all, if in homm3 artifact controled the hero attack/defance, so... you know. and whats wrong about heroes of magic? 'might' can screw himself...

Well because game is Heroes of Might and Magic - not Heroes of Magic.. Because you can choose your battle style depending what creatures, what map or just the way you play - you can be either good with MIGHT, good with MAGIC or both - you have choice - now It seems you don't. nobody will pickup the MIGHT heroes because there is no sense of doing that (if they don't modify creatures attack&defense). So the best heroes will be WARLORDS - that's it! and I hate them. I was always for more MIGHT heroes, not the ones with MAGIC.

I don't think there is a Might vs. Magic balance problem. Sure, Might heroes won't be able to add to their troops' attack and defence, but they themselves will be able to fight, and presumably will be much better fighters than magic heroes. Don't get me wrong. There's plenty of leeway to mess up on balancing. It's just that things don't sound intrisnicly unbalanced.
