This place a year ago....
I've seen some ppl complain about this place,saying it used to be cool but now it sucks.I had knowledge of this place about 2 years ago but I ignored it for some reason and now I regret that.So...is this true what some ppl complain?
I'm not complaining about this place,I quite like it now,but would I have liked it a year or two ago?
I see there were a lot more quality posters in the last 2 years,why have they all left?A lot of members with several red stars: Oldtimer,Shae Trielle,Milena,Romana,Conn(was a mod when I came here) and many others.
And whatabout Murphy and Wesley?Somewhere I read about someone complaining about them,I've also seen some of they're posts but I've never seen them recieve penaltys,what did they actually do to get banned?
Also,a year ago there were more Estonian members!I've seen posts by Dajek and Matthy who are both Estonians,but I think I saw one more!
So tell me:Was this place a lot better one a year ago?
Or was it nothing special?

i dont know but i wish that some of those people you mentioned would post here to shed some light on this because reading through some old threads that they used to put up it seems that the community must have been better when they were around.

I have no idea why they all left. Some of them said something about the place changing and such. Anyway, I'll never forget people like Lord Paul, Shae, Milena and Cat. I've heard that Shae posted a bit this year, but it wasn't much, unfortunately. I really liked chatting on IMs with her...

Well cat went off to college (or whatever they call it in the UK).
And Conn didn't have the means anymore (read comp and internet) to stay a mod!@ 
Edit: hard to say which was better. Not only do the people here change but also your perspective changes.

I typed in "heroes of might and magic" into a search, and came up with http://www.heroesofmightandmagic.com/, the person there being the person who made this community (as far as I am aware at least).
I talked to her a few times, and she told me how she couldn't get HOMM multiplayer to work either, and they had maps and stuff there. I am trying to remember her name. She was Russian I remember. And then she was excited because Heroes of Might and Magic 3 was soon to be released.
Then she changed the name of her site to "Age of Heroes" and changed all of the fonts and everything. I told her - but I am having a hard time finding the maps. Then all of these links came up, and I was on her mailing list for a while. Then she told me that there is this new community coming up (http://www.heroescommunity.com/) but I went there (here) and nobody was there. There were all of these lists of people for multiplayer, and I contacted them and it didn't work. So I kinda gave up.
I came here many times, but it was always empty.
I don't know how long this place has been going for, or if it is the same one that age of heroes started up, or if it has changed name or what. But all of a sudden now, there are people coming here. People are posting. Maybe it is because it runs itself now, or maybe it is because of the Wake of Gods. I don't know. It used to be such a small community - people who play Heroes. Now it seems so big.

only difference to a few years ago, was more ppl and more frequent posts, so more energy. Were just the same percentage of flame threads, in fact prolly more of them.
Interestingly from my perspective, random maps and templates have become mainstream in that period, so a much more common point of discussion than it was then.

Living in New Zealand, but born in Russia. Sorry, for some reason I thought it was a she. Doesn't much matter. Come to think of it, he got upset with me thinking that before too  . And the web address was .nz before.
I don't think Valeri plays anymore though, right?
If you look at the age of heroes site, it hasn't been updated for a while.
Anyhow, doesn't much matter.
But I thought that this board was up maybe 3 years ago? Not sure. I visited there before but never posted.

Um... posters change from time to time. Very few posters are long-term posters. The only long term posters I know besides myself are Lord_Woock and Private Hudson and perhaps a few others.

It's not like me to say this,but everyone comes and goes (except Woock) and we should learn to make the most outta what time we have to spend together at HC and have fun when our friends leave we'll always remember them. When new ones join they are not to take thier places,but to befreind us along the way,so in the end it's like this. "Ye pals will come and go,but remembered they are...so gone they are not..." This place will go on and new pals will come and go.
People will always say "This place was better when....", but HC is HC right?????? so give a shout for all you'r homies and always remember them....

Who cares how it was here a year ago? I've only been a member since October 2002, or something, and I don't think the place have changed much in that short time. Some members have joined, some members have quit. That's all.
Perhaps those who claims it was better an year ago are just missing their friends?
I still think HC is as good to day as it was the day I was a true n00bish newbie.

Wow, now I'm a long-term member? Gosh, and when I first visited HC, I felt so small, so lost . And yeah, we do miss Shae, Cat, Unka, Conn, Lord Paul, Lady Lily, Sha, Milena and some others I most probably missed. And that's why HC is different than two years ago - many people left. People we'll never forget. Hopefully, they'll come back sooner or later. Maybe some day in 2008 (hopefully way earlier), when the only person actively posting who remembers them is me (), they'll come back? What would they say? Maybe "Gosh, this place changed a lot through all those years... OMG, Woock, you still here? "
I'm feel like some cockroaches - I've been here longer than anyone else, and I'll prolly still be here when it all crumbles to dust .
Hey, we're getting retro-apocalyptic here. Let's talk about something merrier !

How long term are you? well just look at profile and date joined... day after it opened here. Beat you by a few months Woock It doesnt make me feel sad though, because I love homm, and still think i can contribute to discussion.
Does it really matter? no not really. Board pretty much stays the same with different players and less activity.
