Quote: BTW: If you want to engage in yet another argument with me, do it via HCM. I thought we had stopped this crap though.
You still think I have something personal with you, dude chill out. (not to mention completely unrelated with the other arguing, but you seem to think I have something personal with you or something)
it's cool lol, I can assure there isn't anything specifically towards you, but sometimes you make me the impression you think the whole world is against you or something
And yeah this was a good discussion, and Ash isn't boring since she participated in it, william is
technically it isn't really off topic because a thread like this isn't just a list, we can discuss why we like some movie or something (why, for example, is in the top 5 list)

Wow, what fantastic movies. Is the story of ricky where that guy is in a jail and he has superhuman strength and he punches through people and all this other violent stuff? That movie is great.
Braindead is also a very good movie but I made the mistake of eating while watching one particular scene (where the ear falls off and the zombie eats it) lol.
I liked the Dawn of the Dead remake but I find the original to be slightly better.

Wow angelito I never would have imagined you are a horror-gory fan
most people don't put horror movies on their top, and even if so, it's not because of the gore

Are you into horror, TheDeath? I dunno if you have told me, but it would seem appropriate because of your username.

Not really, but I like it as "entertainment" though rarely do they reach the status of "worthy of remembering clearly and watching frequently" or something. And I usually hate gory "horror" movies which have ridiculously low amounts of fright (but have gore). Those aren't even horror for goodness' sake, just pointless gore (for some people, disgust ).
Jeepers Creepers is one example of a good "horror" movie, or "The Descent". "The Cave" is not 100% horror it's also action-packed and it's good. I also like "mysterious" and enigmatic movies (usually can be considered horror/thriller), and I do not ask for an explanation at all (why should I be omniscient and know about it when the protagonists don't? makes no sense to me.) so open-ends are not bad for me at all.
I don't like Freddy or Jason movies, or other such "classic" flicks, I like the more frightening-mysterious type of horror rather than slashy gory and pointless ones.
But some of the movies classified as horror also have other elements like action which I also like (also sometimes good plot or characters, not cheesy blondes screaming at every sight). "Alien Lockdown" for example is not really a classic horror flick but somewhat entertaining for it's mixture of horror and action.
Ok sorry for such long review of my preferences
EDIT: Oh and I don't think the first Alien was good at all, at least compared to it's ridiculous (IMO) amount of praise it received
And like I said I usually don't like all-gore "classics" like those halloween monster flicks or most of the movies with zombies, though I did like "Resident Evil" (only 1, never watched the others, but I even have the DVD of it ) because it wasn't only about gory zombies but also some action etc... (and the licker )

Is there anyone else here who hates the (american) grudge? Please? I mean, it has Buffy the vampire slayer as weak and innocent little girl. What were they thinking?
Also, the second resident evil was horrible, while the first one was good, the second one was... hard to follow... made no sense... I sometimes think it was fanservice to the gamers and that they got in several characters that never were introduced to us. Also, while the first one is beauty with questions about morals and human psyche(should we kill the infected human, can we kill a returned loved one even though they plan to murder us, etc?) (It sounds good in my head). The second one is about slaughter... That's it... and a badass action girl...

The Descent was pretty good. Never saw Jeepers Creepers.
As for the original Alien, well, first I think it's impossible to judge by today's standards. You also have to realize what a groundbreaking movie it was for the time. Yeah, it's pretty ho-hum now but when it came out, there was absolutely nothing like it.

I may have around 150 so called "Splatter" movies. I like them best if they contain shocking and laughing parts, like Braindead for example. Just awesome. Some of them are just pure shocking, and you really need a goos stomach to stay cool while watching. Especially the asian ones...I won't name them here, due to obvious reasons ..

I had Cloverfield
But it's not that gory... but I thought it was pretty damn scary. The 15 minutes or so without any horror at all was awesome, and then suddenly it gets intense, and never stops

What? You praise pitch black, but a classic like 'I know what you did last summer' is too shabby for you? Oo
I know it has no strong individuals, but at least it feels like how teenagers would react (yeah, the characters are pretty dumb at times, totally ignoring missing characters). (okay, I find it a bit mediocre as well...)

See? You answered my point with your post
I mean, at times the characters are pretty stupid - not as in 'freaked out', but more like dumb.
Wasn't that bad but not too good either.

I kinda wrote that before. They aren't horror, and most are either funny unintentionally (which I don't like), or just have gore... which I find uninteresting
