Mercy, I was a Metallica fan back in the early 90's when they were putting out a lot of good music. Lars is like 50 years old now, isn't he?
I think my two favorite songs by Metallica are "One" and "Fade To Black". What are yours?

To put you all straight, Metallica release a new album titled St. Anger on June 9th, its much more early influenced Metallica with many fast songs and even some blast beats, Listening to some interviews with Hetfield and Ulrich, they seem almost embarrassed by their 3 terrible albums (namely, the black album, load and reload) Now listening to a few excerpts from the album, it is furiously fast, and if you visit Metallica.com and look at the setlist for the 4 shows they played at the Filmore recently, you will be astounded, with songs like Hit the Lights, Phantom Lord, Motorbreath, Whiplash, Fight fire with Fire, etc etc, songs they havent played in years, with barely a whisper from their latest 3. No Enter Sandman, No Until it Sleeps, no Memory Remains or any crap like that.
I guess what I'm trying to say, is that I will give Metallica the chance. They sold out to commercialism, made videos, made radio friendly songs, won Grammies, launched lawsuits...but every indication points to this album being commercial suicide. I'll give it a shot, and if you once liked Metallica, so should you.
(Lars is 38 btw lol)

sorry RychenSecondChanceGiverRoller,
But i lost all respect for metallica when they "sold out". Making music just to sell... the napster thingy, the whole orchestra thingy...to me it just seemed to be all about money and, nothing else matters.

Ok....so you were never really a fan, its cool i can understand that then.
I'll give em a chance, I heard ride the lightning when I was 12 years old and thats what got me into metal. Its hard to totally give away your biggest influence in music.

hmmm no i never guess i was a pure metallica fun (i liked GNR better ) but still metallica had some great songs IMO... some of my favourite songs when i was younger was fade to black and battery.
I just thought it was a pity to see such a good band sell out...
so no, i wont give em another chance RychenFanRoller
To me they will stay unforgiven.

Lame
Couldnt download any of your precious Kent songs after Napster closed down?
A band loses their way for a decade, writes some mainstream rock and they realise what they've been doing. They get back to their roots and make a fast heavy album. I've since heard the title track to St. Anger and some of the drumming in that is as Fight fire with Fire. I'm excited by Metallica's future and in that future there is no room for posers or cop out artists like like yourself Stefanworldsbiggestfirewallhaver.
Guns 'n' Roses indeed lol, Lame with a capital L

hehe i dont wanna start a fight now RychenTakeItToPersonalRoller
But if you wanna give Metallica a 2nd chance then thats up to you, i just dont buy the concept of first sell out and then try to "take it back".
And IMO GNR still has the way better songs, a CD like apetite for destruction is one of the greatest ever.
Oh and btw, i wouldnt have to download any kent songs from napster...got all the albums alrdy
But as stated if you feel like give em a 2nd chance..do so, just turn the page.

I dont care if their considered sold out or not. I like every song of theirs. Im a major fan, not the kind of fan that buys the useless dvds and such or just listens to music by an artist even if it went bad, but i have not heard a metallica song that i do not like. (and by the way ive heard them all lol)

I consider myself a true Metallica fan as well, after nearly 20 years I should hope so, but there are many songs I dont like. For every Damage Inc. Creeping Death or Dyers Eve, there is a Mama Said, or a Fixxxer, or a Prince Charming. I just do not like the songs off load and reload except for a very select couple, but that doesnt make me less of a fan. Listening to St. Anger several times more, I am excited about the future and really want to hear the whole album, coz the single really rocks.
